PREFACE

The aim of this learning book is to provide the students


with basic knowledge of prose in terms of both intrinsic
elements and extrinsic elements. The students are
equipped with concepts for discussing prose as a genre
of literary works. The concepts cover idea and its
embodiment which offer challenges to the students’
critical thinking. After using this book, the students are
expected to be able to understand the definition and type
of prose, history of prose, the development of prose in
English, America, Asia dan Africa. The materials
completion from various kinds of source taken from
book references, article and academic journal related
with the subject matter. Ongoing improvement on the
quality of this module is a must. Therefore, criticisms
and suggestions are highly appreciated. Finally, the
writer hopes, this book is guided in getting benefit for
readers in generally and particularly for collegers.
