INTRODUCTION TABLE OF CONTENTS

Welcome to Hotel Esplanade, more affectionately known as The Espy! Area 1 1

Basement, Public Bar , Gershwin
Since 1878 The Hotel Esplanade has remained one of the most iconic hotels in the country.
From its landmark location overlooking the St Kilda foreshore, to its imposing three storey Area 2 12
Victorian façade, The ‘Espy’ commands a presence in the hearts and minds of anyone who’s ever Main Bar / Beer Garden / Studio / Loading
set foot in the place.
Area 3 25
Over the course of its colourful 140 year life The Espy has played host to a huge number of Mya Tiger
unique individuals, both guests and performers, and seen many changes. However, throughout
the years it has always maintained its own unique character and identity. Area 4 35
The Ghost of Alfred Felton
In more recent years, the ‘Rock N Roll era’, The Espy personified freedom of choice, self-
expression, diversity and a sense of rebellion. All in keeping with the Rock ethos! Unique Staff Identifiers 39

The Espy isn’t a place where conformity to the norm and mainstream is that relevant or overly Shopping 42
important.

The Espy was never the place for a conventional staff uniform and that’s just the way Sand
Hill Road want to keep it. However, whilst we value your right to express your individuality and
allow freedom of choice in the way you dress for work, there needs to be some boundaries set to
maintain the necessary professionalism in service standards to our valued customers.

As such, we have put together this ‘Non-uniform Uniform Style Guide’. This guide aims to set
out clear and concise references on the Do’s and Don’ts and to help you better understand Sand
Hill Road’s expectations for dressing for work and in meeting the professional standards of
presentation that our customers deserve.

Please speak with your manager or one of the People & Culture team if you have any questions,
doubts or concerns.

Thank you
