1. What parts of the song picture out the life of Vincent Van Gogh?

You may cite the

line/s or what stanza/s.

“Now, I understand, what you tried to say to me

How you suffered for your sanity
How you tried to set them free
They would not listen, they did not know how
Perhaps they'll listen now”

2. What is that Don Mc Lean wants to tell us? or What is it that he wants to prove about
Van Gogh which Van Gogh himself failed to prove because people do not listen?

I think that 'Vincent' is about how Don McLean understands what the struggles of an
artist is like. He is saying that society doesn't the meaning of why artists are painting or
writing, he has dealt with this problem as well. Don McLean has seen Vincent’s
paintings and has seen what Vincent was trying to show/say with them. Don McLean is
trying to tell us that no one would listen to what Vincent was trying to say, and that
people didn't realize the true meaning of Vincent’s paintings, people thought of him as
odd.

3. They say, artists are well understood only when they are gone. Do you think Van
Gogh is one of those?

I think yes if it’s in the past where people are not very accepting but now a days not
really especially because mental health is much understood and prioritize.

4. Is the sound relaxing? If yes, what made you say so? If no, why not?
No, because I find the song very disturbing. The hymn is subtle but hearing the lyrics is
wrenching in the heart because it’s like pleading for help. The song or rather the artist is
very in pain as if the world is hurting him and no one can mend it.

5. Was the singer able to communicate his message through this song? If yes, what is
the message? If no, why not?

Yes, Don McLean's greatest point is that we as a society should become more
accepting.
