1. THE WORLD TOURISM ORGANIZATION (UNWTO):
Is a specialized agency of the United Nations whose purpose is to promote tourism
in a responsible and accessible way for all, paying special attention to developing
countries.

Its headquarters is located in Madrid-Spain, its members include 161 countries to


date and more than 390 affiliated members representing the private sector,
institutions, associations and tourism authorities. The General Assembly is the
supreme organ of the organization, this assembly meets every 2 years (member
states, associate members and observers), the World Tourism Organization has
regional representatives in Africa, the Americas, East Asia and the Pacific, Europe,
Middle East and South Asia.

2. INTERNATIONAL AIR TRANSPORT ASSOCIATION (IATA):


Of a private nature, it is part of any airline that has authorization from its
government to operate on a regular basis. It establishes cooperation between
companies in the area of services, ticket settlement, intervenes and regulates air
traffic, establishes codes for airlines, airports, tickets, acts in the field of security
and participates in negotiations between governments. Headquarters in Geneva
and Montreal.

3. INTERNATIONAL CIVIL AVIATION ORGANIZATION (ICAO):


It is a specialized agency of the United Nations. The Office in Mexico has
jurisdiction over 30 countries and territories. Its main function is to promote safety
in relation to international civil aviation, the approved standards and their
application. ICAO works directly with its counterpart, the Directorate General of
Civil Aeronautics. Civil aviation.

4. BANK SETTLEMENT PLAM (BSP):


It is a billing system created by IATA to simplify and facilitate the sales, notification
and referral process between travel agencies and airlines, this system was
specially designed to control the sale of air tickets from accredited agencies.
Each accredited agency is given a quota of electronic tickets, which after being
issued must be canceled in the respective airline companies through an accredited
bank in each country. In general, these controls are carried out weekly and if the
agency does not comply with the established standards, the accreditation is
withdrawn. This process helps a lot to have transparency in the different
administrations of the travel agencies, to safeguard the financial control and the
cash flow of the different airlines.

5. CONFEDERATION OF TOURIST ORGANIZATIONS OF LATIN AMERICA


(COTAL):
It is a non-profit civil organization that groups together all National Associations of
Travel Agents of Latin America and regional chapters in Spain, France, Egypt,
Japan and India. Also, among its partners are agencies of Latin American travel,
hotels, transport networks, institutions educational, etc.

Its purpose is to show the world the wonderful possibilities that Latin America offers
for tourism in general, seeking to maintain the tourist offer at the highest level. This
Confederation works in a common line with its different associates in order to
facilitate the task of professionals in the tourism sector, whether public or private in
Latin America.

6. UNITED FEDERATION OF TRAVEL AGENTS ASSOCIATIONS (FUAAV):


It is a world body that effectively represents the opinions of travel agencies and
tour operators through dialogue and communication with organizations such as
IATA, among others, FUAAV was founded due to the need to unify travel agencies
and tours. operators in a single international body.

The FUAAV is based in Brussels and is made up of the associations of almost


more than 100 travel agencies and tour operators, has consultative status with the
United Nations, NGOs and works jointly with organizations such as UNESCO and
WHO.
Its main mission is to be a forum where matters that affect the travel industry are
discussed, defending the interests of the activity of travel agencies and tourism
operators before the different international organizations, in addition to
strengthening the image of its members. and promoting the travel and tourism
industry globally.

7. INTERNATIONAL UNION FOR THE COOPERATION OF RAILWAY


COMPANIES (UIC):
The International Union for the Cooperation of Railway Companies (UIC for its
acronym in French) aims at cooperation and understanding between the main
representatives of the railway sector, its headquarters are in Paris France. With the
new technology related to the rail transport industry, this organization has
increased its representativeness and importance due to the different norms and
standards that all new rail transport projects must comply with.

Among its main objectives are to ensure international railway cooperation, ensure
the competitiveness of rail transport, represent the interests of rail transport and
promote synergy between different global entities to achieve world rail
development.

8. THE INTERNATIONAL ROAD TRANSPORT UNION (IRU):


The International Road Transport Union (IRU) aims to represent the interests of the
global road transport industry. This body represents the operators of buses, taxis
and trucks in general, defending the interests of the industry, its policy is based
mainly on strengthening development in terms of road safety and minimizing the
environmental impact of all road transport.

The IRU ensures that vehicles comply with the different regulations on fuel
consumption, especially those related to the environment, supports the strict
maintenance of vehicles according to international standards, helps make the
roads safer, is attentive to different changes in national and international legislation
regarding the industry and seeks to lift the different barriers imposed on the
different transport and road trade services in general.
9. INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF ANTARCTIC TOUR OPERATORS
(IAATO):
The International Association of Antarctic Tour Operators (IAATO in English) is an
organization founded with the purpose of promoting and regulating responsible
tourism activity in Antarctica by carrying out a series of procedures and guidelines
that ensure that trips to the Antarctic continent are appropriate, safe and
ecologically sound.

IAATO is a group that has established the highest possible standards in order to
protect the Antarctic continent from tourist exploitation, currently this is one of the
most representative organizations of responsible tourism in the world, among its
different members are shipping companies , land operators, shipping agents, travel
agents, government offices, travel companies and tour operators operating in
Antarctica.

10. UNION OF FEDERATIONS OF TRAVEL AGENTS ASSOCIATIONS


(UFTAA):
It is a global body that represents the agency industry of travel and tourism, in a
legally constituted association, to travel agencies in all its forms, as well as other
companies related to tourism, ensuring each other's interests mutual and
representing us by a board of directors before our governments and society in
general, to stimulate tourism and desire to travel.
