Import Workflow - Memo On Patient CDs That Require Special Handling
Import Workflow - Memo On Patient CDs That Require Special Handling
• PICOM Viewer CD
◦ PICOM Viewer CDs can be made with and without DICOM files. If attempts to import the CD fail, the DICOM
option was most likely not checked off when the CD was made.
• Viztek Opal-Lite
◦ Occassionally the DICOMDIR on the CD lists studies that do not actually have DICOM files saved on the CD.
◦ If the CDs internal viewer shows more studies than what shows up when importing into Phoenix, you will need
to open up each study in the Viztek viewer and choose their export option. Then tell Phoenix to grab the
studies it finds from the export folder(s). If this becomes a common problem we suggest you contact the
institution who made the CD for assistance on extracting all your study CDs.
• NovaPACS
◦ NovaPACS has the option to make CDs in a very compact lossy DICOM format that is incompatible with
medical records transfers as the images could have possibly lost diagnostic information. If your images do not
load in Phoenix contact the institution and ask them to send the images in a "lossless" format.

OfficePACS ViewCapsule (confirmed v. 4.1, 2012, may apply to other versions)
◦ The DICOMDIR used on those CDs may be invalid. To import you have to look for the patient folder and do a
folder import to transfer the files.
