Good morning trainees. May you please stand for an opening prayer.

I’m Christopher D. Palacio and I’m happy to welcome all of you in our training center for
Computer Systems Servicing NC II.
Before we start lets have first the checking of attendance. When I call your name just raise
your hand or say present. (Roll Call) Based on the records from the registrar’s office, I am
supposed to have 15 trainees. I can see perfect attendance! And I would look forward to
seeing you all every day.

Welcome to the center

By the way I Welcome you all to Asias Latin Institute Inc., thank you for choosing this institution as
your training ground for CSS NC II and I assure you to provide quality instruction and that we will
help you develop competencies needed for this qualification.
Asias Latin Institute Inc., is an institution administered by TESDA and we practice CBT as our
mode of instruction.
Does anyone here know what is CBT or Competency Based Training?
From the word itself CBT is a training based on competency this implies that training
delivery approach focuses on the competency development of the learner as a result of the
training.
So what’s the point? It points out that the FOCUS is on YOU the learner

And it means that CBT does not focus on only with what you know, but what you can
actually do with what you know. It focuses more on the outcomes rather than the process.
And it is a learner centered.
is concerned with the attainment and application of knowledge, skills and attitude needed to a
specific level of competency
Discuss 10 Principles of CBT

1. The training is based on curriculum developed from the

competency standards;
I should be aware that all training activities are done
towards the attainment of the assessment criteria set in the competency
based curriculum.
2. Learning is modular in its structure;
One competency is generally considered as one module. Since learning
is modular in instruction, a trainee should be competent in the module
currently being trained before going to the other competency.
3. Training delivery is learner-centered and should accommodate
individualized and self-paced learning strategies;
You are treated as individual learners with different
characteristics, learning styles and training needs. The trainee is allowed to work independently
or in a small group.
4. Training is based on work that must be performed;
Training is always based on actual industry practices. Training should
provide for a simulated work environment.
5. Training materials are directly related to the competency
standards and curriculum modules;
The Competency Based Learning Materials used during the training
should conform to the competency based curriculum and the competency
standards.
6. Assessment is based in the collection of evidence of the
performance of work to the industry required standard;
Assessment is done to test whether the trainee is able to perform the
job based on the required criteria in the competency standards.
7. Training is based both on and off the job components;
Training is done in a simulated work environment (the laboratory)
and/or in an actual work environment.
8. Training program allows for recognition of prior learning(RPL)
or current competencies;
Your current competencies acquired through training or work experience
are recognized before training through a validation process.
9. Training allows for multiple entry and exit;
You do not need to wait for others to be competent before he can
exit either a competency or the qualification. Fast learners may graduate
faster than others.
10. Training programs are registered with the UTPRAS.
All programs should be registered to the Unified TVET Program
Registration and Accreditation System. UTPRAS registratrion assures the
quality of training.

My role as a trainer

I will serve as your facilitator, I will facilitate and guide you in the learning process and also I will be
your evaluator, I will evaluate your progress and achievement

and your role as a trainee

CORE OF UC
Do you have idea what is CSS NCII? CSS NCII is a level of qualification with Basic,
Common, and 4 core units of competency. The Core Units of competencies are the
modules that you are going to master for the qualification.

The 4 units of core competencies are:

1. Install and configure computer systems

2. Set-up Computer Networks
3. Set-up Computer Servers
4. Maintain and Repair Computer Systems and Networks
IV. NO. OF HOURS/ X ROLE
We have 280 training hours and we are expected to finish in 35 days. CSS NCII belongs to
the Electronic Sector which means after the training you will be working as a Computer
Technician and Network Administrator, .

ASSEMENT
After completing each unit competency, you will undergo institutional assessment and
when you pass, you will be issued a Certificate of Achievement. After completing all the core
units of competencies, you will be required to take the National Assessment in which
TESDA will provide you the National Certificate.

CBLM

CBLM stands for Competency based Learning Materials

Competency-Based Learning Material is a well-designed and carefully developed learning materials
that give trainees detailed instructions in the learning process.

The effective used of CBLM is by reading all information sheets and Use the self-check, task or job
sheets to test your own progress. Answer keys, performance criteria and procedural checklist
are also provided to check your own performance.

Therefore, CBLM is very compact instructional material that fits to learners’ needs in training
because this is design from TR or Training Regulations.

Training Regulation is the document that serves as a basis in the formulation of competency
assessment and the development of curriculum and instructional materials for competency-based
training, and every program has its own TR. So, you can download the TR of CSS NC II from the
TESDA website. I have secure copies of TR found in the Learning Resource Area.

How do you progress?

We will evaluate your progress through the different monitoring tools like: ACHIEVEMENT
CHART and PROGRESS CHART which will let you see how far you’ve gone per unit of
competency and learning outcomes.

EVALUATE
How do we evaluate you?
You will be evaluated through different assessment methods like: written test, oral
questioning and demonstration. We don’t have numerical ratings, but you will be rated
competent if you meet the standard criteria requirements and not yet competent if you
do not meet the standards.
