Introduction

Where YOUR destiny

and the WORLD’s
destiny
are intertwined

© Jeremie Averous, 2010

Chaos theory and destiny

Chaos theory shows that events are not

entirely determined by the past.
Small events in the present can change
dramatically the future.
Our destiny is not entirely determined.
We can influence it.

So,
Our smallest actions can
all contribute to
devise the world of the
future !

Our destiny and the world’s destiny

The Fourth Revolution.

The world will be shaken.

Institutions will become obsolete and be

destroyed.

Familiar landmarks will disappear.

Bad intentions or just survival needs will

drive many people to act negatively.

New institutions, habits, organizations will

take over.

Our destiny and the world’s destiny

We are the generation of the Fourth

Revolution.
Whether we want it or
not, our generation
will shape the world
of the Collaborative
Age.

Our destiny and the world’s destiny

We are the generation of

the Fourth Revolution.
We will see it unfold under our eyes,
sweeping institutions, corporations,
stable situations, and creating a new
world.
Many old and solid trees will be uprooted
by the Fourth Revolution.
This will make space for many new plants
longing for the sun.

How can we make sure that the new plants

that will grow will benefit the world?

Our destiny and the world’s destiny

What needs to be
built again will
need deep roots.

It will need deep

Diving in the
Collaborative
Age

A choice,
your choice.

© Jeremie Averous, 2010

The choice of the Age to live in
You can decide to stay in a previous Age.

Like the ‘Orang Asli’ of Malaysia who live in the

jungle at the door of Kuala Lumpur, looking
from far at modern life’s light. And deciding
not to join, deciding to live in the hunter-
gatherer Age

The choice of the Age to live in

It is highly respectable to choose to live in a previous Age.

Those who make this choice are often

happy

The choice of the Age to live in

Another example of people choosing to live in a previous Age is the Amish

community in the USA. They live in the Agricultural Age.
Often people who decide to live in previous Ages do so in closely knit
communities. The community supports the needs of the individuals
and prevents the temptation to join the next Age

Choosing to live in a previous

Age certainly diminishes
risk… and at the same time,
diminishes opportunities
for individuals.

The Choice of the Age to live in

Whatever choice you make, the

worst is not to choose

Choose!
And whatever you choose, don’t ever regret
the other path.

4 core daily habits of the successful
K.E.E.N.
Let’s assume you have decided to dive into the Fourth Revolution.

Here are 4 key daily skills.

For You, AND for your contribution to
the world.

• Virtual collaborative tools skills

• Emotional management
• Giving for free
• Cultivating Communities

(See the manifesto part VII for other keys to success for the K.E.E.N.)

1- Virtual collaborative tools skills

Experiment,
Create,
Share,
Connect…

So that you increase your impact and

effectiveness of your contribution to the
world, using correctly and efficiently social
networks is a skill to be practiced. Daily.

2- Emotional stability
So that your motivation does not get destroyed by the inevitable
personal responses on interactive tools, emotional stability is key.
It is even more important when using virtual communication
tools than in normal face-to-face communication because of the
potential of misunderstandings.

Emotions can be stronger in

virtual communication. Get used
to tame them. Get used to tame
you ego.

Continue to contribute!

2- Emotional stability
Emotional load is reinforced because exchanges are public, and because
the interaction is still less dense than in face-to-face.

Tips for emotional stability:

• Alignment with purpose. Focusing on your purpose will

make you forget the bumps of the road.
• Virtual communication skills. Get used to virtual
communication. Improve your delivery of meaningful
communication, avoid misunderstandings.
• Letting go. You’ll experience small failures and
unsatisfying interactions. Don’t worry. Let go. They are
nothing compared to the big picture.
• Community/network support. Get a strong emotional
support from your close community, friends and
significant other.

3- The habit of giving for free
Giving is the essence of trust. That is the case in real life. Even more so in
virtual life. You need to give to build trust and only then, get things in
return.
Learn and practice giving in your daily life. You might be surprised by
what comes back!

© Jeremie Averous, 2010 Visit www.thefourthrevolution.org 23
3- The habit of giving for free
Giving is the beginning of possibilities. Maybe that little thing you gave,
that little seed you planted in one’s mind, will trigger exceptional
realizations. Who knows? Give, and don’t expect immediate results.

And, be grateful when you receive. Maybe today you don’t know what you will
do with the gift, but eventually you’ll know.

3- The habit of giving for free

Giving is the seed of

unexpected opportunities and
returns

More so, giving to others is

the seed of happiness

Free giving is a skill.

It needs to be practiced.

4- Cultivating communities

Cultivating communities=

Literacy in collaborative tools

+ emotional management

+ free giving

+ enjoy your time interacting!!!

4- Cultivating communities

The issue of effectiveness in

cultivating communities

…Is like in the real world.

You can spend tremendous amounts

of time interacting at a very
superficial level.

You can also aim at being effective at

creating deep relationships.

Emotional connection is key.

A common thread
Experiential learning
There is a common thread to these four skills.

There are 3 keys to success in acquiring and

practicing those skills:
1. Practice,
2. Practice,
3. Practice more!

And a bonus: When you fall, stand up and continue.

That’s just experience.

When do you start?

A quest, YOUR quest

© Jeremie Averous, 2010

A quest, your quest

OK, I have decided to dive into the Fourth Revolution.

OK, I have understood that I can contribute to

changing the world, at my scale, using my talents
and my passions.

OK, I have understood that my contribution could even

be decisive but I won’t know that when I will give it
out.

But then, how to start? How to overcome inertia? How

to be really sure that’s how I can contribute best to
the world?

In this section, we will just consider together some

key questions.

Some key questions that you need to consider

carefully and deeply.

From the answers to these questions you’ll start

seeing some aspects of who you are, what you
really want to do.

Discuss these questions and your answers with your

close friends. Hire a coach if you feel you need to
seek deeper understanding and meaning.

Get ready for the quest.
