Setting up connection to Eventide VPN

The NexLog740 and NexLog840 support secure VPN tunnels using the Eventide Network
Management Appliance server (NMA). This is for temporary use during remote technical
support and/or integration development activities. NexLog recorders connected to the NMA
can only be accessed via the NMA from a secure portal within Eventide itself. NexLog
recorders connected to the NMA are not accessible via other recorders that might be attached
to the NMA.

Required Security and Firewall Setting

Your firewall must be set to allow a connection on TCP Port 1194 to a public IP.
While not required, we do recommend restricting the connection to only the
public IP or URL shown in these instructions.

Enable the VPN on the NexLog:

Using the web based Configuration Manager
 Navigate to the Networking>>VPN Settings (see next page for screen view)
 Enable the VPN checkbox
 The “VPN host:” field will be prepopulated with “--remote vpn1.eventide.com 1194”
o “vpn1.eventide.com” is the URL and “1194” is the required TCP port
 If you do not have a DNS server/gateway configured for the recorder (see
“Networking>>Network Interfaces, Gateway” to determine this)
o If no DNS, Replace “vpn1.eventide.com” with the public IP, “96.242.89.163”
 NOTE: When using NexLog firmware version 2.7.0 and later, it is not required to enter
the 1194 TCP port number
 Click “Save”
 Wait approximately 2 minutes for connection to occur
 Contact Technical Support: https://www.eventidecommunications.com/technical-support-call-recording-
products , with the Serial Number of the recorder and your technical support case number to
verify the connection from the Eventide side of the NMA.
