E3.2 Buffers
We always use certified non-linear ACLA AUTAN Ø100/35 x 80 mm, Type B buffers, on both car &
counterweight side.
The buffer compression with the car on its buffer must be ≤ 90 %. This can be measured by putting the car
on the buffer
; Use the ESE to put the fully loaded car on it’s buffer
; Open the bottom landing door with the triangle key
; Measure how much the car is under the bottom floor level
; Substract the free space between the car and buffer from this value, when the car is at bottom floor
level.
; This final value must be ≤ 72 mm
E3.3 Landing Door Fire Resistance
Consult the owner manual information to obtain the certification number, fire rate and door type
corresponding to your country
; Attach a paper strip to the car door sticking through the landing door when the car is on the top floor
; Use the ESE to put the Cwt on it’s buffer
; Measure how much the car is above the top floor level (A)
; Lower the car until the car roof is at the top floor level
; Set the ESE switch JRH back to “Normal Mode” and access the car roof using the triangle key
; Activate the ESE switch JRH to “Inspection Mode” and move the car to the highest inspection position
; Measure how much the car is below the top floor level (B)
; Add A + B to all the values indicated in the section 3.10.a of the acceptance test and compare the
values with the corresponding measurement in the actual position of the car
Remark: In case of safety gear on Cwt, there is need of additional safety space on the car roof, to
compensate the movement of the safety gear activation sledge. The maximum allowed movement of the
sledge must be added to all the values indicated in the section 3.10.a of the acceptance test (see page
31).

In case of doubts about the value indicated on the Dispo drawing, due to local car modifications or any
other reason, the real car weight on site has to be measured.
This device blocks mechanically the car in a safe position during maintenance works in the shaft head
(HCU, machine, brakes, overspeed governor…), blocking the car structure with a pin on the car guide rail.
For the 1125 kg car there are two car blocking devices used.
A safety contact KCBS opens the safety line in order to prevent unexpected electrical movements.
When not used, the CBS is retracted and fixed on the car roof in that position.
You have to check the functioning of this device and of the KCBS safety contact: see page 24 "Safety
Contacts and Circuits".

T3.1.1 Examination
According EN 81-1:1998, Annex D.
Standard procedures to install and test GED10/20 safety gears and GBP overspeed governor are
explained on K603433 and K601885 documents.
In case the Safety Gear braking distance is not according specifications, corrections should be made
according K603435.
Nevertheless, the additional information below is especially adapted to the S001 Rel. 3 characteristics
Preconditions
; Electrical and mechanical parts completely installed. Especially, the car must have its final total weight
including mirror, deco-ceiling…
; Recall Control ESE available, to perform the test and to be able to move the car in "Recall Mode" –
even if KF and KBV are open)
; Check that the safety gear is well centered [S = 1.5 – 2 mm] and adjust if necessary using the screw A.
; Real BKS: check that the black skate doesn't stand more than 3 mm inside the rail (right figure)
; Correct Cwt balance must be checked: see page 18 "Counterweight Balancing"
WARNING! The motor does not have enough moment/power to recover the car loaded with 125%
rated load. For this reason, it's important to test the safety gear when the car is next to a landing
door. In this way, you can access the car, unload a portion of the weight and recover the safety
gear to the normal position using the Recall Control (ESE).
It is forbidden to perform the safety gear test with no load in the car!

- The overspeed governor is not triggered during a normal trip (test not active) when the button DBV is
pressed.
- Verify the calibration of the car load cell (CLC) after the test.
- The braking marks have to be measured after the test and should be between 59…125 mm. (see
K603435)
1. Pull-out the PLUG1 from LDU.SMIC.XESE, connect the ESE and activate the “Recall Mode” (JRH)
2. Move the car upwards, until the car roof is ± at the top floor level that you will be able to enter the car
roof
3. Select the “Special mode” [__/__/10] on the MMI & press 'OK' Æ [10/__/__]
4. Activate the “GBP-Reset mode” by changing the value to [10/__/_3] & press 'OK' Æ [10/3_/_0]
5. Unplug the KBV-plug from LDU.SMIC.KBV
6. Plug-in the "GBP-Reset"-plug on LDU.SMIC.KBV (this connector overbridges the KBV contact in the
safety circuit
; One person accesses the pit, after which a second person puts the car 1 m above the bottom floor
level
; Push the JHSG stop device.
; Check the state of the KBV contact. (SMIC between KBV [1] & KBV [2])
; Release the governor rope from the car.
; Accelerate the rope to cause the governor to trip
; Measure the tripping speed on the tensioning device pulley.
; Confirm the opening of the KBV contact after OSG tripping.
Preparation
1. Select the “Test mode” [__/__/20] on the MMI & press 'OK' Æ [20/__/_0]
2. Activate the “Test mode” by changing the value to [20/__/_1] & press 'OK' Æ [20/__/_1]
3. The car travels to the LDU floor and opens the door. The door remains open Æ [__/__/- -]
4. Unload the car.
5. Select ‘Start Test Ascending Car overspeed’ [__/__/44] on the MMI and press the ‘OK’ button.
6. If the LDU floor is not the bottom floor the car travels automatically to the bottom floor and keeps the
door closed.
7. The MMI shows that the test is active, displaying ‘Test Ascending Car overspeed active’ Æ [44/__/_2]
Execution
Completion
Alternative sequences
7.b The test is cancelled because the car is not on the LDU floor. The MMI shows ‘Test Ascending Car
overspeed aborted’ and the error ‘CAR_NOT_AT_LDU_FLOOR‘ is entered in the log Æ [44/_0/_2]
8.b Cancel the test before execution by pressing the ‘ESC’ button on the MMIÆ [44/_0/_3]
9.b The test is cancelled because the car is not on the bottom floor. The MMI shows ‘Test Ascending Car
overspeed aborted’ and the error ‘CAR_NOT_AT_BOTTOM_FLOOR‘ is entered in the logÆ
[44/_0/_1]
10.b The trip is finished normally if the car does not reach nominal speed during the trip. The error
‘NOMINAL_SPEED_NOT_REACHED‘ is entered in the logÆ [44/_0/_4]
11.b If the button DBV will be pressed before the car reaches nominal speed the overspeed governor is
triggered as soon as the car reaches the nominal speed
12.b The trip is finished normally if the button DBV is not pressed during the tripÆ [44/_0/_6]
Preconditions
If you need to measure the real elevator speed, use the following procedure:
; Obtain the HQ value (total travel height) from the Dispo drawings
; Subtract HE1 and HEn from HQ (=A)
; Perform a complete travel along the well
; Measure the lapsed time between LUET of the HE2 floor to the HEn-1 floor (=B)
; Divide the A distance by the lapse time B to obtain the real car speed
T4.3 How to measure the Inspection Speed
Here the same procedure (see T4.1 & T4.2) can be applied as for the Nominal Elevator Speed
measurement.
Runtime Limit
The motor run time limiter stops the car if no floor level is reached within a defined time limit in "Normal
Mode".
For the test, the speed during the run time monitoring of the drive is temporarily reduced to 0.10 m/s in
order to perform the verification (performed by the control). The trip is interrupted by an emergency stop as
soon as the drive is switched on longer than the time limit. The system must remain blocked until a manual
reset or power (main switch) off/on. This time limit must not exceed the smaller of the following 2 values:
; 45 seconds
; Travel Time in Normal Mode + 10 seconds, with a minimum of 20 seconds if the full travel tim is less
than 10 seconds
Preparation
1. Select the “Test mode” [__/__/20] on the MMI & press 'OK' Æ [20/__/_0]
2. Activate the “Test mode” by changing the value to [20/__/_1] & press 'OK' Æ [20/__/_1]
3. The car travels to the LDU floor (if needed) and opens the door. The door remains open Æ [__/__/- -]
4. Select ‘Start Test Run Time Limit’ [__/__/37] on the MMI & press the ‘OK’ button, after which the car
closes the doors, travels to the top floor & the MMI shows that the test is active by displaying ‘Test Run
Time Limit active’ Æ [37/__/_1]
Execution
5. Press again 'OK', after which the MMI indicates the 'Run Time Limit'Æ [37/__/20]. The car starts a trip
to the bottom floor, at the lowest possible speed (0.10 m/s).
6. As soon as the 'Run Time Limit' is reached, the drive shuts down with an emergency stop. The control
goes to 'fatal error' and an error ‘RUN_TIME_LIMIT_EXCEEDED’ is entered in the log.
7. The test is passed if the drive stops with emergency stop.
8. The MMI shows “Test Run Time Limit successful" Æ [37/_1/__]
9. Press the 'ESC' button on the MMI Æ [__/__/37]
Completion
Alternative sequences
4.b The test is cancelled because the car is not on the LDU floor. The MMI shows ‘Test Run Time Limit
aborted’ and the error ‘CAR_NOT_AT_LDU_FLOOR‘ is entered in the log Æ [37/_0/_2]
5.b Cancel the test before execution by pressing the ‘ESC’ button on the MMI. The control resets the
time for the run time limit to the normal value Æ [37/_0/_3]
6.b The test is cancelled because the car is not on at the top floor. The MMI shows ‘Test Run Time Limit
aborted’ and the error ‘CAR_NOT_AT_TOP_FLOOR‘ is entered in the log Æ [37/_0/_1]
6.b The test fails if the car can not start. The MMI shows “Test Run Time Limit failed” Æ [37/_0/_4]
7.b The timer for the run time monitoring does not reach the time limit. The trip is finished normally. The
error ‘RUN_TIME_LIMIT_TOO_HIGH’ is entered in the log. The MMI shows “Test Run Time Limit
failed” Æ [37/_0/_4]
This section describes how the speed monitoring for door pre-opening has to be tested in the field using
FC capability.
Pre-Condition
Both, the PHS and PHUET switches can be tested according Safetycircuit Description J 42101055.
