V-Profile Clamp To Connect Bearing Casing and Compressor Casing

Description The V-profile clamp was improved and stiffened. The new design is more
massive and equipped with expansion elements. By observing the following
assembly information, consequential damages at the turbocharger can be
avoided. All turbochargers delivered 2008 or later are already equipped with
the new design.
New design Figure 1. shows the new design of the V-profile clamp and describes the parts
to be exchanged.
Spare parts The new V-clamp can be installed on all turbochargers in operation and can be
ordered under the order-no. 546.005. In some cases a reworking of the
turbocharger foot 518.001 is necessary. Please contact our Technical Service
Department.
Operational guidelines For the installation of the V-profile clamp attach both clamp halves over the
flange connection so that the tap holes correspond to the bores of the holding
sheets (546.114). The undercut bolts (546.111) should be positioned as
vertically as possible, as shown in figure 1. Mark the mounting position in the
first assembly. In future maintenance works, always make sure that the
mounting position is the same as in the first assembly.
Mount the new V-profile clamp (546.005) evenly and alternately on the
circumference with the expansion sleeves (546.112), undercut bolts (546.111)
and hexagon nuts (546.113) in 4 steps with the following tightening torques
and without lubricants:
Step 1 : ................... 30 Nm
Step 2 : ................... 80 Nm
Step 3 : ................. 125 Nm
Step 4 : ................. 150 Nm
Secure the clamp halves on both sides with the holding sheets (546.114), lock
washer pairs (546.116) and hexagon bolts (546.115).
