LABORATORY EXERCISE NO. 4
TISSUES

Name: GALANG, LIHZA MAY ALLIAH, S. Section: 10 Date Submitted: FEB 21 2021

I. INTRODUCTION
A tissue is a group of cells with similar structure and function, plus the extracellular substance
surrounding them.

II. ENUMERATE AND BRIEFLY DESCRIBE THE 4 TISSUE TYPES IN THE HUMAN BODY.

Epithelial tissue is made up of layers of tightly packed cells that line the
surfaces of the body for protection, secretion, and absorption.
Muscle tissue is made up of cells contain contractile filaments that move
past each other and change the size of the cell. There are three types of
muscle tissue: smooth musclef, skeletal muscle, cardiac muscle.
Connective tissue is made up of many different types of cells that are all
involved in structure and support of the body. Bone, blood, fat, and
cartilage are all connective tissues.
Nervous tissue is made up of the nerve cells (neurons) that together form
the nervous system, including the brain and spinal cord.

III. ILLUSTRATE AN EXAMPLE OF THE SPECIFIED TISSUES BELOW USING OUR MAIN E-BOOK
OR TEXT BOOK.

1. Simple Squamous Epithelium 2. Pseudostratified Columnar Epithelium
