THESIS SYNOPSIS

1. SPORTS COMPLEX

1.1. INTRODUCTION
A sports complex is a group of sports facilities. For example, there are track and field stadiums,
football stadiums, baseball stadiums, swimming pools, and Indoor arenas. This area is a sports
complex, for fitness. Olympic Park is also a kind of Entertainment complex.

Requirements-
Mini Stadium (Football field, Cricket Field), Academy Building, Indoor Stadium, Hockey Field,
Volleyball Court, Kabaddi, Gymnasium, Tennis, Archery, Multi-Purpose Hall, Parking Area,
Restaurants/ Food Court.

1.2. AIMS AND OBJECTIONS


Aim-
The need of sports complex in any city is must as it is a requirement of every age, from children to
grown-ups.

Objectives-
The main objective is to cater to the needs of all age groups- children, adults and aged people by
creating a relaxed and easy atmosphere through design, architectural expression, so as to make the
complex retreat from city life.

The project is envisaged to be cluster of modern multi-functional world class sports facilities. It aims
to provide the users an affordable, comfortable and enjoying experience.

Integration of built form with landscaping and its elements.

1.3. REASONS FOR SELECTION OF PARTICULAR TOPIC


Public sports facilities have played a very important role in promoting physical activity and
participation in leisure sports activities.

Therefore, there have been significant efforts to continue to improve the image of leisure sports and
pursue the amelioration of service quality of public sports facilities.

1.4. SCOPE
Free form concept will be used according to the needs of the people. People will get view from all
sides of the building. There will not be any view blockage. It will become a tourist attraction as well
because of the all the different activities provided to people.

1.5. SITE, LOCATION AND SITE AREA LIMITATIONS


It’s the proposed site is located in Sector-17, New Delhi, India. It has access from four sides. Its
proximity from International and Domestic Airport- travel time less than 15 minutes. Delhi metro
providing excellent connectivity with North West and Central Delhi. The site should be regular and
slope flat surfaces are most satisfactory and the simple sites can be used for forming the tiers of the
slopes.
Location-
The proposed site is located in sector-17, Dwarka, Delhi.

Site-
Site Area is 23.1 Acres. The shape of site is trapezium.

Area-
The area of the site for sports complex is 8 hectares approved as per MPD-2021, various indoor and
outdoor sports facilities have been proposed for the sports complex.

Constraint and Potential of Site-


The location of the site is such that it is utilized by the large number of people due to connectivity.
2. CULTURAL HUB

2.1. INTRODUCTION
A clustering of cultural venues such as museums, galleries and performance spaces with secondary
attractions including food and retail.

Culture is the characteristics and knowledge of a particular group of people, encompassing language,
religion, cuisine, social habits, music and arts. ... The word "culture" derives from a French term,
which in turn derives from the Latin "colere," which means to tend to the earth and grow, or
cultivation and nurture.

2.2. AIMS AND OBJECTIVES


To develop and promote the rich diversity and uniqueness of various art of the zone and to upgrade
and enrich consciousness of the people about their cultural heritage.

To identify the various cultural needs of the city in order to address them with quality services in the
best possible manner.

To understand the changing modes of the aesthetics, in relation to the cultural observance or
practice, which can act as an important tool for the cultural & heritage education for the community.

The image of the city will be transformed with the layers of cultural & the religious diversity added
to the fabric of the city.

To develop an effective spaces in the centre, so that people can easily relate themselves to the city &
its culture.

2.3. REASONS FOR SELECTION OF PARTICULAR TOPIC


There has been a complete negligence in India in the past few decades with the growth of modern
technology. With the influx of modem equipment and the craze with the western culture adoption.
Indians are losing their own culture. The idea of adopting western culture is considered prestigious
and trendy among this generation as is advertised and promoted by greater extent. Interest to learn,
follow and adopt our culture will boost our cultural value worldwide. The architectural language will
vary from each cultural pavilion but unite them as a whole through various methodologies.

2.4. SCOPE
The design proposal aims to create holistic architectural experience showcasing culture in all
aspects. The arts and culture should be systematized into one coherent body of knowledge from
inside, as well as, outside the building. The three important aspects looked upon are designing a
holistic experience for the visitors by creating-

 Culturally sound interior


 Culturally sound exterior
 Ease of transition space
2.5. SITE, LOCATION AND SITE AREA LIMITATIONS
The site is in Sector 11, Zone K2, Noida, West Delhi. The area us fast developing with
great potential for mixed use. Mixed use neighbourhood creates a self sustaining
society, where the daily inflow and outflow is not in high ratio.
It is the government-proposed cultural hub development site, having small tributary of
Najafgarh Channel, running behind. After thorough scrutinization, the final site was
selected. The site study itself, provides many cues for concept evolution and design.
Hence, detailed study of the site shall ensure less site intervention and more successful
better design. The major issue is many tourist spots in Delhi, is its location in the city
core and the heavy traffic to surpass to reach the destination, which consumes about
half the time and more. These reasons hinder many foreign tourists to visit places that
are far. Proximity, less road travel duration may have an advantage in luring many
tourists.

3. MEDITATION AND YOGA RETREAT

3.1. INTRODUCTION
Meditation is a practice where an individual uses a technique – such as mindfulness, or focusing the
mind on a particular object, thought, or activity – to train attention and awareness, and achieve a
mentally clear and emotionally calm and stable state.
Requirements-
Meditation Hall/Pockets, Yoga Area, Administration and Reception, Open Air Theatre Living spaces,
Multi-Purpose Hall, Parking Area, Restaurants/ Food Court.

3.2. AIMS AND OBJECTIONS


In this materialistic world, human beings are profoundly running behind monetary gains.
They are searching for happiness and peace, but all the materialistic joy seems to be instantaneous.
In the connoisseur of love and happiness, people find themselves lost in varied tastes.

To provide stability and eternal happiness to the society, a meditation is extremely required. It is
also helpful in making a sincere and responsible society. Rather, it will help in projecting Sitamarhi
on international tourism map.

3.3. REASONS FOR SELECTION OF PARTICULAR TOPIC


Meditation can act as a circuit breaker for this non-stop lifestyle, giving both the mind and the body
a chance to recharge. "Meditation is a powerful natural antidote to stress. It's a simple mental
technique used by people from all over, including some of the world's most successful." Meditation
is a powerful and natural treatment for people who suffer from depression and anxiety. Meditation
will improve your health by strengthening your immune system, reducing your blood pressure, and
lowering cholesterol levels.

3.4. SCOPE
The project holds its importance for the benefit of whole of mankind, which will invite the
intellectual class from all over the world to the region, marking the philosophical development of the
region.

3.5. SITE, LOCATION AND SITE AREA LIMITATIONS


It is located near riverfront between Ambedkar Bridge and Vasna Barrage, Ahmedabad.

Site Area is about 99,957.35 square meters (24.7 Acres).

Existing it is flat barren land with lot of shrubs and trees on the northern side, with neglecting level
of contours.

In the southern side we have housing, Sabarmati River is flowing in northern side. Talking about east
we have green land and on west we have bio diversity park.

 Dr. Ambedkar Bridge
