INTRODUCTION
Welcome to Cartography! First, I would like to congratulate you for passing your previous
subjects despite the pandemic and calamities that the Bicol Region has encountered. In this
module, we will have an overview of the definition, background, basic principles, concepts and
practices in/ of cartography. Cartography will be the first of the subjects in the Geodetic
Engineering curriculum that will focus on map making to represent viable data.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
At the end of this module, you are expected to:
• Define Cartography.
• Determine the relevance of Cartography to the community.
• Determine the relevance of Cartography to the Geodetic Engineering profession.
• Understand the background of Cartography.
