The document provides guidelines for observing and reporting on a presenter's use of a chalkboard. The observation report should include a description of the setting, a report on how the chalkboard was used, and a reflective section with references to support points made. When providing reflective feedback, the feedback should promote dialogue, focus on observed behaviors rather than personal judgements, provide specific examples, and be delivered confidentially to build trust. The observation protocol outlines features of handwriting quality, materials and techniques used, and sections for noting good and bad points.

Focus on gathering descriptive data, not on evaluation. Complete the written report as soon after the observation as possible, while the experience is still fresh in your memory. The written report need not contain every detail you observed. Report should consist of explanation of general setting, report of the use of chalkboard, and reflection. You should provide references to support your report especially in the part of reflection.
Keep in mind these CHARACTERISTICS OF REFLECTIVE FEEDBACK
• promotes reflection as part of a dialog between the giver and receiver of feedback. Both parties are involved in observing, thinking, reporting, and responding. • focuses on observed behavior rather than on the person. Refers to what an individual does rather than to what we think s/he is. • is specific rather than general. • is well-timed. • requires a supportive, confidential relationship built on trust, honesty, and genuine concern.
