Experiment # 3 MOSFET Amplifier Characteristics: Common Source

Objective: The aim of this experiment is to explore the characteristic of NMOS common source
amplifier circuit.

Theory: MOSFET is the main active device for modern integrated circuits (ICs). It is mainly used as a
switch and also as an amplifier. Here in this experiment NMOS common source amplifier circuit will
be characterized.

Observations:
Calculation and Results:

Bandwidth for Rd(here R1)=0.5k is 13MHz

Bandwidth for Rd(here R1)=1k is 9MHz

Increasing Rd(here R1) increases gain, whereas increasing Rs(here R4) decreases gain. To prevent
decreasing gain with increasing Rs, we use a capacitor.
