OGL 481 Pro-Seminar I:

PCA-Choosing an Organization Worksheet

Worksheet Objectives:
1. Identify an organization and situation you want to study over the remainder of the course.
2. Describe the organization and situation.

Complete the following making sure to support your ideas and cite from the textbook and other
course materials per APA guidelines. After the peer review, you have a chance to update this and
format for your Electronic Portfolio due in Module 6.

1) Describe your organization.

The Organization that I will be working internally with this semester is Nike Brand in the

Jordan Department. For those that do not know Nike is the largest seller and manufacture of all

sports shoes, clothes and equipment. The following brands Nike competes with are luxury brands

Gucci, Louis Vuitton and other sports brands such as Adidas, Puma. Nike’s success goes way

back from Michael Jordan and Nike collaborating on the first Air Jordan in 1984. Even further

back like the Iconic Bill Bowerman and the famous Nike Waffle Racer. Along with the infamous

collaboration’s over the years Nike has also managed to take over well know brands like

Converse, Hurley and Jordan.

As the Project manager/Creative Director in the Jordan department My goals are to try and

produce more products to the mass public, Retro past Jordan’s allowing more underprivileged

and less wealthy people opportunity’s to purchase iconic sneakers with no outrages prices tag. I

want to provide a good communication tool allowing companies to reach out to each other for

easier access to collaborations and branding rights. Along with those goals I am determined to

establish myself as a Creative, Senior Project Manager, and a Leader! As I make my transition

from a LEAD Program assistant into the role of a Project manager I feel that there will be a lot

1
for me to learn. I am opening minded for all ideas that come to mind. I will also make this

transition as smooth as possible and develop into the knowledgeable Nike consultant I know so

much about. Nike Brand will continue to work for the people and provide quality gear for all

who seek for it.

2) Describe how Describe your role in the organization (it can be internal or external).

My role for this organization will be an internal position. I am aware of what I will need to

tell my current employer and believe that everything will turn out as it is supposed to. I feel that

this opportunity will help build me into the Project Manger I have been seeking to become and

learned the creative side that will help me develop as a designer. Also I feel like I have a lot to

offer the Nike and Jordan brand. The position that I will be taking on is the Project manager/

creative designer this position will take a lot from me. I will have to move to Beaverton, Oregon,

this is where the NIKE headquarters is located. I have never been to Oregon and seeing the

headquarters will be an exciting event. I will need to be a fast learner and never stop hustling

while on the job. This will be an experience I will cherish for the rest of my life!

3) Describe the situation. (See the Canvas instructions for details, especially about how
your situation will be analyzed from five different perspectives over the next five
modules)

 Structural Issues (org structure, goals, technology, size)

The structure of the origination is that I am the Project Manger / Creative designer with

Nike, My overseers are the CEO of Jordan brand Jeffery Jordan and the CEO of Nike Brand

Iyana Smith. I am the leader and over seer of three Nike employees Nim Gomez, Maxon Miles

and Emmitt Myth. All three of my employees have worked here before me so I have great help

from Nike. Nike’s Human Resources (H) Position is ran by two twins Racheal and Rudy

Johnson. Things I expect to learn from them are the Culture of Nike, which leadership styles they

2
react to best, their motivations, ways to better collaborate, Drama topics to avoid, are allies and

competitors. Other people I am in networks with are Stock X CEO Jason Brown, GOAT APP

CEO Gabe James, and computer Kanye North the Adidas Creative designer.

My goals are to try and produce more products to collectors, Retro past Jordan’s allowing

the Nike Community groups opportunity to purchase iconic sneakers with no outrages prices tag.

I want to provide a good communication tool allowing companies to reach out to each other for

easier access to collaborations and branding rights. Along with those goals I am determined to

establish myself as a Creative, Senior Project Manager, and a Leader!

The Technology we have access to is the latest and greatest, more of the information will

be talked upon when we get more information on the topic at hand…

 HR (People) Issues (leadership style, group processes, interpersonal relationships)

 Leadership styles are soon to be discover, need more feedback from my team…

 The process is that we all work with are own brands, A lot of brand-to-brand

collaboration doesn’t really exist. My goal is to elaborate on collaborations and

break barriers many never wanted to see broken. Barriers like Nike and Adidas

collaboration, a sports brand and luxury brand collaeraberation, maybe even

expand on the street wear and sports brand collaberation.

 Interpersonal relationship between me and adidas, me and stock X , me and

Jordan.

 Political Issues (conflict, alliances)

1. Resaleres
2. Apps like Stock X and GOAT oversalling products

3
3. Fakes being sold
4. Not enough products being made for the colletors
5. Mass produc buyers
6. Iron out exclusiveness
a. Alliances : Coverse, Hurley, Jordan, VIrgial Abloh, Supreme, Jun Takahashi &
Undercover, Comme des Garçons, Undefeated, Drake

 Symbolic Issues (culture, symbols, myths, rituals, questions about what really
happened
The Last Dance, Reslaers taking over, SNKRS APP, NEW release dates,
1. How will you stop resalers?
2. How many more prodcuts need to be realesed on rease day?
3. What is the Average cost of a Jordan/ nike shoes production, how much we sale it for ,
how much third partys platforms sale it for?
4. What sheos would you retro?
5. How can you Make the SNKRS App more efficient?
6. How to you plan on breaking barriers?
7. How can you collberate with other brands while keeping brand standerds?

 Ethical Issues (Toxic Workplace Culture, Discrimination and Harassment,

Unrealistic and Conflicting Goals. ...Questionable Use of Company Technology.

Nike dose not tolerate any harassement or toxic energy in the work place. Those who have
been effective by an ethical issues should reach out to HR, Project manger and CEO. Do not
let things get out of hand as soon as an insdent happens let oen of your overseers know. Better
to be safe then sorry and we want all of are STAFF to be comforatable at all times.
