BASIC SALES TECHNIQUES?

Similarity close: You bring your prospect through a journey similar to their own to show that their
challenges are solvable. In sales situations, stories allow the subconscious mind of the prospect to
truly ‘get’ and see the valuable application of the solution.

Alternative close: Making decisions can be overwhelming. Simplify the process by offering two
options for them to choose.

Testimonial close: Happy customers breed new customers. Use this as a sales strategy and show
your prospects that your product works for others. It moves from hypothetical language to true
results. It transfers the perspective from you touting your own services to a peer validating you.

Some sales techniques resonate and others don’t. It’s important to find what strategies click with
your particular audience and the product/service you’re selling.

TELL ME ABOUT YOURSELF?

Hello, my name is Himanshu Maan currently I am pursuing my MBA from LBSIM I have chosen
marketing as my majors and finance as my minors. I also have an experience in sales. I was working
for the policybazaar.com in the position of associate sales consultant. It was a proper sales job
where I was the face of the company and had to talk or communicate with the prospects first hand.
My key roles and responsibilities were cold calling as well as handling the site leads also. Job was
very numbers oriented and was highly competitive when it comes to meeting the targets. Also, I
have done the summer internship in the RAW BASICS which is an FMCG company manufacturing
shaving oil. I was a BD intern over there and was responsible for creating the future business
pipeline by contacting retailers and salons and gathering details. I also have few certifications such as
sales force software and sales operations. One thing that interests me most in my life is the test
cricket I just love to watch the test cricket it’s a pure example of determination, focus and grit had to
be there and same goes for living the life also.

WHAT ARE YOUR LONG-TERM GOALS?

I'm eager to work in sales in a mission-driven company such as yours. Long term, I'm always looking
to improve my selling skills and, in particular, I'm eager to grow my leadership skills, eventually
taking on managerial responsibilities.

WHAT INTERESTS YOU MOST ABOUT THIS SALES POSITION?

I'm most impressed by how much of a difference scaler’s product can make in engineers lives. I think
it's clear that engineers will feel safer about their jobs if they own this product. To me, it's important
to only sell items that I truly believe I would have bought if I would be software engineer.

WHAT MAKES YOU A GOOD SALESPERSON?

I enjoy the personal connections with prospects and customers, but I think where I really shine is in
the details. I'm hyper-organized; my calendar was always full of reminders to follow up
with customers, and I never let an email linger without quickly responding when I was working as a
salesperson.
WHAT IS MOST REWARDING ABOUT A SALES CAREER?

One of the things I find most rewarding in sales is when I talk with a customer after I've sold them a
product and they can point to positive results. Of course, my primary goal as a salesperson is always
to land the deal, but really, I'm in it because I believe the products, I sell can improve people's lives
and make companies run more efficiently.

Competitive nature of the job few examples supporting this can be numbers often drive salespeople,
from closing a big deal to beating the previous quarter, relationship building people in sales tend
genuinely to enjoy making contacts and spending time talking with people.

STRENGHT AND WEAKNESS?

My greatest strength is my competitiveness, which is why I also excelled as an athlete in high school
and college. Nothing invigorates me like a race to the finish; I love the challenge of trying to
consistently earn an annual ranking in a company. I’ve learned, though, that no one becomes a top
achiever without the help of the rest of the team. My weakness is that I’ve sometimes judged other
team members when we’ve fallen short of a goal, so now I try to focus on motivating and supporting
my team rather than just expecting them to follow my lead.

WHY ARE YOU THE BEST PERSON FOR THE JOB?

My skill set is a perfect match for the job requirements. In particular, my sales skills and experience
make me an ideal candidate for the position. For example, at my last job, I worked in a sales team of
25 employees, and we had the top sales record of our company branch. I can bring my successes and
experiences to this job. Also working for the new wing of the policybazaar.com I get to know how
much hard work it requires from every individual to make it a profitable company and gradually
increasing the revenues and I think scaler is also in the same phase.
