INSTRUCTION: Formulate a health teaching plan for a lactating mother to increase and
maintain her production of breast milk.

Topic: Health Teaching on Ways to Improve and Maintain Milk Production in Lactating Mothers
Descriptive/ Overview: This lesson aims to provide information and awareness to lactating women about several
ways and techniques that must be observed in order to improve milk production, ultimately paving the way for
efficient and unhindered breast feeding. Moreover, this lesson will also mention the definition, importance, and proper
ways of breastfeeding. Breast milk is loaded with nutrients and protective compounds that are essential for the first 6
months after birth. Thus, it is important to not only know how to breastfeed infants properly, but to also ensure that
the infant is getting enough breast milk to satisfy daily needs.
Materials/ Equipment: Visual aids, Pamphlets / Infographics
General Objectives: After a 30 minute discussion, the nurse will be able to promote health awareness for lactating
mothers to increase and maintain production of breast milk. Secondly, the client will be able to learn, internalize,
understand, and reflect on (1) the importance of breastfeeding, (2) importance of increasing and maintaining the
production of milk, and (3) the techniques and actions that must be observed done in order to increase and
maintenance the production of breastmilk.
