COSMOPLAST 500
CA-instant glue (cyanoacrylate)
APPLICATION COSMOPLAST 500, a quickly hardening one-part adhesive, is suitable
for applications in manual and industrial specialized trade. Fields of
application are e.g. the sealing technique, the sewage technique and
PVC- and metal processing industry. The instant glue is especially
used to bond diverse rubber- and PVC-surfaces.
In the window manufacturing, COSMOPLAST 500 is used to bond
APTK (EPDM)-sealing profiles, e.g. with miter cuts, butt joints with
each other and with PVC-hard- and aluminium profiles.
COSMOPLAST 500 can also be used, in connection with the primer
COSMOPLAST 588*, for the bonding of silicone- and TPE-sealings.
COSMOPLAST 500 excels particularly with its short setting time and
has a good cold-, heat- and weather resistance.

WORKING INSTRUCTIONS
COSMOPLAST 500 is applied directly from the dosing bottle or with
the CA-dosing device onto one side of the surface to be bonded,
which must be first dry and free from grease and dust.
The surfaces are cleaned with COSMOFEN 60 or COSMOFEN 10, if
necessary with acetone, depending on the resistance of the material
surface.
The surfaces to be bonded are joined together within the film formation
time of the adhesive and pressed together until the necessary
functional hardness has been achieved.
COSMOPLAST 500 hardens up influenced by humidity and
temperature. Due to its relatively low viscosity, COSMOPLAST 500
cannot withstand a tension >0,1 mm on the adhesive gap.
For the bonding of bigger gaps, e.g. COSMOPLAST 515 is at your
disposal.
In order to reduce the press time or to accelerate the hardening time of
cyanoacrylate adhesives in thicker adhesive gaps >0,1mm, we
recommend to use the accelerator COSMOPLAST 584.
For the bonding of the outside lying glass bar seal in the window
construction, additionally to the bonding of the miter cuts with instant
glues, the ift-Rosenheim (institute for window technique) also
recommends to bond the profile angle onto the window glass by means
of a neoprene rubber filling or sealing compound, in order to achieve a
permanent tightness during driving rain.

WORKING INSTRUCTIONS * Aluminium bonding: Only possible on chemically pre-treated or
lacquered surfaces; bright aluminium can only be bonded with a
long- lasting aging resistance with a suitable pre-treatment of the
surfaces to be bonded.
The bonding of materials with different linear expansion must be
evaluated regarding their long-time performance, particularly when
loading in application areas with changing temperatures.
* For the bonding of silicone- and TPE-profiles, preliminary tests are
absolutely necessary, because of the variety of materials.
* Please consider the advices in the corresponding technical data
sheet of the mentioned or recommended products.

APPLICATION QUANTITY depending on kind of bonding, drop by drop

OPEN TIME, as well as the necessary PRESS TIMES, can only be found out through own tests, as they are
strongly affected by material, temperature, application quantity, air and material humidity, adhesive film
thickness, pressure, etc. The user should provide adequate security additions to the given approximate
values.

CLEANING The cleaning of hardened up cyanoacrylate adhesives is usually made

mechanically.

STORAGE Store in tightly closed original casks, in a dry place, without direct solar
irradiation. Optimal storage between +2°C and +8°C.
At temperatures between +15°C and +25°C storable for 9 months.
