VeriVide’s Colour Assessment Cabinets are an indispensable tool for
colour assessment, colour quality control and comparisons of colour variation.

CAC60 Cabinet - 600mm The stability of our light sources give excellent viewing conditions for reliable
colour critical decisions under standardised lighting. Ensuring agreement and
consistency through global supply chains, helping to highlight product quality
issues, such as Metamerism, at the earliest opportunity.

Designed specifically for colour matching and evaluation of any
material where precise control of colour is critical.
Backlight LED control panel with various features:
servicing indicator, auto sequence, warm-up, power save
and data storage facility.
Options of 4 or 5 light sources including
D50, D65, D75, 840, 830, CWF, F, A and UV.
Interior Colour options:
Grey Munsell N5, N7, 5574.
VeriVide’s range of colour assessment cabinets are designed to
match the viewing conditions and spectral qualities of the standard
illuminats as specified according to the ISO/CIE standards.
They also conform to all major international standards for visual
evaluation, including ASTM, AS, BSI, DIN and ISO.
VeriVide’s own specially designed daylight simulator is the only
fluorescent light source to give accurate colour reproduction across
the entire colour spectrum.
The CAC range is available in 3 sizes plus a portable option.

VeriVide Accessories
Diffusers
Diffusers are recommended when assessing highly specular materials
such as paint, glass, polished surfaces and ceramics. These can also be
used to create a barrier between light source and viewing area to prevent
contamination - for example of food product.
Dimmable
If a variable intensity of light is required or specified, an electronically
controlled Dimmable option is offered.
Observation tables
Two types of observation table can be supplied; the Tilting Table which
allows variable angles of observation. These are useful for observing surface
coatings, metallic and pearlescent materials and the Fixed Angle Table (image
above) with the angle of observation fixed at 45º in accordance with ISO105
for the assessment of Colour Fastness.
Benches and planning tables
Benches are also available allowing you to position your cabinet at the optimal
observation height when used in conjunction with a VeriVide cabinet. Benches
with plan drawers can also be supplied. (Further details on our Accessories

Lamp useage
Lamps should be replaced after 2000 hours of use. The control panel
includes a service indicator to signify the number of hours usage for each
individual light source.
The standard electrical supply is 220 V / 240 V (50 - 60 Hz). It is important
that the cabinet is correctly earthed. All other voltage supplies must be
specified when ordering.
Positioning recommendations
For optimum results minimize the amount of stray ambient light or glare
interfering with your visual assessments. We recommend windows near the
Light Cabinet should be covered with a grey curtain. Direct light entering the
field of view must be kept to minimum.
The lighting environment around the cabinet should have a light level of
200-300 Lux and the walls near the cabinet should be painted with a
neutral grey paint comparative with Munsell Grey N7.
We would be pleased to offer advice in regards to your own specific location.
CAC Range interiors
All our CAC range of Light Cabinets are finished as standard, with a neutral
matt grey interior - ref N5. Alternatively this colour can be changed upon
request to Munsell Grey N7 or 5574.

Lamp options
Colour requirements for manufacture and retail are complex and
diverse. To ensure product colour, several types of light source are
used (e.g. Artificial Daylight and a Point of Sale Light. Multiple light
sources are also necessary to reveal colour inconsistencies and
metamerism.
For many products, it is critical to ensure components are assessed
under the same illuminants, using defined procedures, in a controlled
viewing environment, by everyone in the supply chain.
This ensures standardised and repeatable colour assessment.

To ensure controlled standardised light, two factors require consideration...

1. COLOUR TEMPERATURE - Kelvin. (K)
Colour temperature describes the colour appearance
of the light and can vary along with its spectral power
distribution.
‘Correlated’ colour temperature applies to fluorescent
lamps and approximates the true colour temperature.
Lower colour temperatures appear warmer, such
as Illuminant A and 830. Lamps with a higher colour
temperature look cooler or bluer, like VeriVide D65 and
D75.
2. COLOUR RENDERING INDEX (CRI)
A numerical system that measures how well colours
are rendered by a lamp in comparison to a reference
light source.
CRI is measured on an index from 0 - 100, with 100
being an exact match, low values indicate poor colour
rendering. VeriVide D65 has a CRI rating of 98, this
shows colours more accurately than a CWR with a CRI
rating of 62.
This rating method is recognised by the Illuminating
Engineering Society (IES) and the Commission
International de L’Eclairage (CIE).

Servicing
Our Light Cabinets are precision engineered to an extremely high
standard. A regular maintenance schedule is essential to ensure
optimum performance.
One of the biggest influences on the perceived colour is the light
source. As lamps age there is a potential shift in the spectral
power distribution of the light source. Maintaining a reliable output
of the light source is critical to consistent colour evaluation.
The influence of the reflector and interior surfaces within the
lighting cabinet is often underestimated. The absorption and
refection of the light sources has a significant influence on the
overall performance of the cabinet and therefore needs to be
maintained.
Deterioration of reflected light or a decline in the quality of the
spectral output will make your colour critical decisions unreliable
and inconsistent.
This creates potential for incorrectly rejected or approved
products, costly claims and confusion within the supply chain,
causing delays in time to market.
Additionally, a Light Cabinet without a regular maintenance
schedule is not compatible with a successful accreditation.
When should you service your cabinet?
If it has been a year or more since your last service.
Servicing includes:
Initial inspection and testing.
Removal and disposal of all lamps. (WEEE compliant).
Clean and polish the white reflector.
Fit and test new lamps to specification. *
Rub down and clean interior surface of cabinet.
Repaint interior surface to specification.
Clean exterior of the cabinet.
Reset switch panels and record data.
Final inspection and test to VeriVide’s quality standards.
Supply of Service Certificate.
Lamp Calibration (if requested).*
WEEE Directive 2006
The disposal of lamps is in compliance with WEEE regulations
(Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations 2006).
UK only.
