Story - Once an inspector went to a school to inspect. He entered a class, where the teacher was teaching Hindi.
When the teacher saw the inspector, he greeted him. The inspector saw that the Hindi book, which was being
taught, had a lesson on Ramayana. The inspector asked the students, ‘Have you all read Ramayana.” They replied,
“Yes we have”. The inspector asked them to tell who had broken Shiva’s bow. Everybody kept quiet. One student
thought that whatever was broken in the school, he was blamed. Brooding over it for a while he stood up and
said,’Sir, I am telling you the absolute truth that I have not broken this bow”. The inspector instantly turned his eyes
towards the teacher, the teacher angrily said that the boy would not accept that he had broken it, unless he was
caned. The inspector rushed to the office of principal and said, “Look, what is being taught in the school. I went to
the class and asked, who broke Shiva’s bow? A student said that he had not broken while the teacher said that he
had broken it”. On hearing this principal said, “Whatever has happened, has happened. What do you say now, we
will do as you suggest, we will pay the fine and get a new bow?” The inspector was left dumbstruck, when he heard
this. He thought that the entire school was full of fools. Same is the condition of human being today. Though they
are reading many religious texts. They are grossly unware of the real implication of those texts. Moreover, they are
extremely proud that they have memorized so many verses.
