INTRODUCTION
As part of completing my Middle Years Programme of
the International Baccalaurate I must completing
project called Personal Project in Year 4. For my
personal project I decided to make a Barber Academy
that I will do some video that will help people to know
how to cut hair with the right technique. I do this
project because I want to let people know that barber
industry are very important and also can gain a lot of
money.
CRITERION A
STRAND 1 (CLEAR GOAL AND GLOBAL CONTEXT)
The title of my project is Barber Academy. I want to
make a video about how to cut hair with the basic and
right technique. Specifically, my goal of my project is to
help students that lives in boarding school that cant
outing to outside of school because (MCO) movement
control order that enforced by the government. So, I
cause the tidiness of students especially on the aspect
of hair does not neat. So, me as a person that expert in
hair cutting will do hair cutting academy to teach and
encourage Mara Junior Science College Tun
Mohammad Fuad Stephens IB World School student”s
to let they know on how to cut hair with the right and
basic technique. To make my project more interest Im
looking for a videos from Instagram and also from
youtube to improve my skills in hair cutting.
My global context is globalization and sustainability. I
choose this global context because I want to globalize
barber industry not only for adult also for student that
want to gain some pocket money by their own. I will
send my video to youtube to let people see and learn
how to cut hair with right and basic technique.

Hairstyles are some of the art that have in our daily
life. The good hairstyles will make our confidents
increase.

PRIOR LEARNING
Computer science subject that I have learn in form 2
really help me to edit and make my video become
better to publish it at youtube .in form 2 I have learn
about how to create a new title and provide a
background sound in a video. So it really help me to do
my product.

I organised my research plan before I started my
research. Firstly, I searched about trending hairstyles
nowadays to make people more interest about my
product. So after my research I know that the most
popular hair cut is fade. Fade haircut have many types
which is low fade, high fade, mid fade and also taper
fade.
My Resources is internet. I had research online for
information that needed for my project. I used several
different resources to find a lot of information.

CRITERION B
STRAND 1( CRITERION FOR PRODUCT)
Basically, my supervisor challenge me to do the hair
cutting demonstration live when presentation but
when (MCO) 2.0 are getting started I need to make a
backup plan which is do a video that will help people to
learn basic and the right technique cut hair. So I put
my aim to my video that I will publish in youtube. My
aim is:
1)Viewer
I aiming that my video will get 50 viewers. To achieve
my target I need to share the link for my youtube video
to my friend . I also need a positive comment from my
viewers about my video.
2)Function
My video will help people to learn how to cut hair. So
from my video, people who watch my video will know
how to cut hair easily.

3)Editing
I achieve this criteria I learn how to edit video to make
my video more interesting such as add the background
sound for my video. I use video maker application to
help me editing my video.

STRAND 3(DEVELOPMENT)
Self-management is not my strength this year because
I had a few self-management issues which is having
balance studies, online classes, personal tome, and
finding time to work on personal project. However this
personal project give me an opportunity to develop
self-management skills. I create a time table to manage
my time wisely. I also have issue such as didn’t have my
own hair cutting set. So I decided to buy my own hair
cutting set with the price RM150. Other than that, I
have issue which is hard to find my supervisor since he
and I were busy with personal activities and MCO
getting started again. So I and my friends decided to
have a video call with our supervisor at 5 november
2020 and also use the media social such as whatsapp
to ask something about my personal project. So I can
continue my personal project during MCO.

STRAND 1(CREATE PRODUCT)
After gathering information from google and social
media . I started do my video cutting hair with my
friend and I got the bad result so I do it again to my
brother and I got a great result so I can published it to
my youtube channel. With the video I can help people
who want to learn how to cut hair with right
technique.

STRAND 2(DEMONSTRATE THINKING SKILLS)
During the process of completing my personal project, I think
about how to make my product successful. For example, how
to make sure that my video will help the people that want to
learn basic about how to cut hair. I do some research and
watch some video to see how they took a video for their
product. I also think what are the background sound that will
make people like my video. So I hear some background sound
and I got what I want for my video. So the viewer will clearly
like my video.

While I doing my product, I found that I had a good
communication skills. It is because in my product I need to
talk to make my viewer more clearly understand about what I
want to inform them about hair cutting technique. I also use
my communication skills when I help my friend in making
their personal project.

PROJECT EXTEND MY KNOWLEDGE)
I confident that my personal project give the impact to my
global context. I learn that hairstyles are very important to
our daily life because it will cause the person mood. It also
can be part time job for someone that want to collect pocket
money more. The global context “globalization and
sustainability” are very suitable for my project because I
want to globalize barber industry.
This project also help me to improve my knowledge about
digital. It will help me in the future such as to make a video
for my youtube channel or for my assignment.

As an IB students, we need to know 10 IB learner profile. The
first IB learner profile that I use is risk taker. It is because i do
some backup plan which is making a video about basic and
the right technique to cut hair. Second, is balanced because I
need to maintain my study time and also finish my personal
project. Other than that, I also become knowledgeable
because I search information about my project. Lastly, this
project shape me to become principle because I need to
manage my time and always sticking to my planning while
Covid-19 .
