1. How does knowledge of management information systems affect you and your career

potential?

Knowledge of management information systems will play a very huge role in my career since

my major is Information Technology and Systems. Knowing the ins and outs will really

excel my capability in the field and really help significantly in understanding the way

everything flows in the Information Systems field. It is vital for me to get comfortable with

the concepts of how people, technology, and processes all factor in with each other.

Understanding these three concepts will be a big step in the right direction for me.

2. Visit a job posting web site such as monster.com. Look at various jobs in your chosen

degree field (e.g. accounting, finance, sales, management information systems, etc.). Find

two or three descriptions of jobs that require some information systems knowledge.

a. What information systems knowledge and skills do these jobs require?

-Ability to analyze information and draw conclusions on system performance and trends.

-Coordinate highly technical examinations, analysis and reporting of computer-based evidence

related to security incidents (intrusion artifacts/IOCs) or investigations.

-Ability to analyze data, such as logs or packets captures, from various sources within the

enterprise and draw conclusions regarding past and future security incidents.

-Coordinate with and act as subject matter expert to resolve incidents by working with other

information security specialists to correlate threat assessment data.

b. What do you need to do to prepare for these jobs?

These jobs require experience that I would need to attain through out the next few years

of my education as well as my career. Each of them requires a Bachelor’s Degree along

with some experience in the field. To prepare for these jobs, I would need to finish strong

in school and aim for some internships in the next two years so I can acquire some

experience. I would really need to focus on the education required to be knowledgeable

in ITS.

3. How has technology affected your chosen degree field over the pasts 5 years?

Technology has changed everything, especially recently since Covid-19. A lot of companies

have made the move over to digital to compensate with the times we are facing. In my degree

field a lot has changed and will continue to change in the Information Technology side of

things. We are in a forever evolving cycle where new technology comes out every time we

blink our eyes, making our lives easier while providing us more resources.

4. Provide an example of how mobile digital devices have impacted business process in

your area of interest or how they have impacted your own day to day activities.

Mobile devices have changed the game for everyone. From personal life to the IT field, we

have been given the ability to communicate with anyone in the world in a few seconds. We

have become reliant on mobile devices for day to day life. Whether it involves getting

directions to your new job or finding a new recipe for dinner. Accessibility is what we are

after in any aspect of life and we will continue to improve on that. Anything is a click or a

tap away on your mobile device, making our lives easier day by day.
