The amount of fixed assets has remained more or less the same over the 5 year period. It has been
stable and the increase has been in the net block component. It has increased by Rs. 3934.35 crores
during the 5 years whereas the Capital Work in Progress has decreased during 2006-08 and then
increased.

The fixed assets to total assets ratio has shown a decreasing trend during the 5 year period (except
during 2008-09). The ratio in 2009 is 40% lesser than its value in 2005. Net sales has steadily
increased from Rs. 34081.27 crores in 2005 to Rs. 46804.19 crores in 2009. The fixed assets turnover
ratio has shown an increasing trend (except in 2007) whereas the fixed assets as a % of net sales has
decreased at almost a constant rate. This is directly related to the decrease in fixed assets during the
period.

From the above chart, it can be inferred that the share of investments in long term assets
almost doubled in 2006 as compared to 2005. It has maintained more or less the same rate
in the next 3 years.

The composition of total assets in terms of fixed assets and net current assets almost
remained the same from 2005 to 2007. It decreased slightly in the next 2 yrs.
