"subramanya Barathiyar On T E L U G U Language

"Subramanya Barathiyar has praised telugu in a tamil song. Also Known as Mahakavi Bharathiyar.
'Sundara Telunginil Pattu Isaippom'. 'Sinthu nathiyin.... Sundara telunginil patisaithu'. Though he
loves tamil so much,he accepted telugu as a sweetest language. He never praised any other
language apart from telUgu, though he was scholor in french, bengali, hindi, sanskrit... Most of the
songs those days were in Telugu and Sanskrit. It is always believed that Telugu is a musical language
may be because it ends with vowel sounds."

Subramania Bharathiyar, the great Tamil poet often described as a National poet was a
contemporary of another great Bengali poet Rabindranath Tagore.

Bharathiyar wrote a patriotic song emphasising on India’s special feature of “Unity in diversity “..In
his said song he imaginarily described a situation in free India when Tamil youths sport boating on
the Indus river-Sindhu (now in Pakistan), in moon light with young Malayalali (Kerala) girls, singing a
song in Telugu language..

Here he described Telugu as ‘sundara Telungu’ ..The generally understood meaning of this Samskrit
word ‘sundara’ is ‘beautiful’..Telugus are very proud of this Tamil song because a Tamil poet has said
that Telugu is beautiful..They quote this song very often and also mentioned in the emblem/logo of
Telugu Associations in the USA..

Coming to the point, Bharathiyar selected only Telugu, though he knew many languages, to sing a
song which means that Telugu is not only beautiful (sundaram) but also more suitable language for
music, recognising that it is a musical language..

He knew Samskrit and by using the word ‘sundara’ as a prefix to Telugu, he made all the meanings of
this word applicable to the characteristics of Telugu language..We generally know only one meaning
i.e.,beautiful..But the word has several meanings in Samskrit..

Therefore if all the meanings of the word ‘sundara’ are applied to Telugu, we can take it for granted
that Bharathiyar described Telugu in the following terms-

1). Telugu is beautiful.

2). Telugu is pretty.

3). Telugu is handsome.

4). Telugu is nice.

5). Telugu is good.

6). Telugu is lovely.

7). Telugu is noble.

8). Telugu is charming.

Telugu - The language well appreciated

On 15th of this month, The State Government of Telangana is conducting world Telugu Maha
Sabhalu. Many Telugu greats will be attending from all over the globe. The government is making
elaborate arrangements to see that the visitors will feel at home. All Telugu People are invited to
attend the meetings. Many famous personalities may attend this meeting.

In this connection, I want to express my appreciation to the Telugu language. In India after Hindi, the
second largest speaking language is Telugu. Now there are two states where the Telugu is the
mother tongue. Many people appreciated the Telugu Language in their own way. The great Kannada
King Sri Krishnadevaraya appreciated this language as the best language in the country's various
languages. The Tamil author Subrahmanya Bharathi appreciated Telugu as a very nice and great
language. Mr Nikolo Konti, an Italian praised the language as The Italian of the East. Like this, many
poets from other languages praised this language in their own words.

I wish and hope these meetings will be conducted very attractively and the unity between the two
Telugu states will improve with this event.

Out of four South Indian languages, Telugu has been given much respect and regard as even the
Karnatic vocals in many languages have the touch of Telugu words and thus it is great on the part of
Telangana government to organise the World Telugu Conference by inviting all those who are not
Telugus but supported the language to great extent. Surely there would be congregation of great
poets , writers and above all deliberations in support of this great language and the government
proposal to have new ideas implements are well on the cards. We are eagerly awaiting for this great
conference.

telugu is the sweetest language in this world

Telugu is definitely the best and sweetest language, need not to decide by you and me.

Already declared by great pundits of Carnatic music.

And for god sake do not compare it with any other language.

I fall in love with Telugu Language. It is very poetic when listening or speaking.

(Our Subramanya Barathiyar had written Sundara Telunginil Pattu Isaippom). Known as Mahakavi
Bharathiyar

(the laudatory epithet Maha Kavi meaning Great Poet in Tamil)

Bharathi composed Carnatic music kritis in Tamil on love, devotion, etc. He set his songs to music
and could sing them well in a variety of ragas.

Alhough he was fluent in Sanskrit and other languages including Bengali, Hindi, Sanskrit, Kutchi,
French and English, he only composed two songs purely in Sanskrit, with the vast majority being in
Tamil.

Thogh he loves tamil so much,he accepted telugu as the sweetest language.

Most of the songs those days were in Telugu and Sanskrit.

Another Maha kavi has said

kavignar Kanadhasan said it in a Tamil song 'Sinthu nathiyin........Sundara telunginil patisaithu'

Even the Britishers has praised telugu as the italian of the east.

It is always believed that Telugu is a musical language because it ends with vowel sounds.

Great pandit and ruler Srikrishnadevaraaya has praised telugu as

“Deshabaashalandu telugu lessa” which meansTelugu is superior to all languages.

May be that’s the reason most of the kirtanas in carnatic music are in Telugu but not in any other
language.

Rabindranath Tagore has once stated that Telugu is the sweetest of all Indian Languages. ...
12)Unlike any other language, the poems, called "padhyaalu" in Telugu follow some special rules,
called "Chandassu"which makes it extremely rhyming , gives a beautiful pronunciation and
excellent meaning.

Telugu language received recognition in Australia

Amravati: Recently the Telugu language has got a rare distinction in Australia. According to the
information received, the Government of Australia has given gifts to children studying in primary and
secondary schools from first to 12th standard. Now children can choose Telugu language as an
optional subject there. The Australian Government has given it permission. Along with this, it has
also been said to give 5 marks more on the passing of students taking Telugu language as an elective
subject.

This is a really great decision. Along with this, the Australian Government has also said that jobs and
living forever can also apply on the basis of Telugu language, it has been decided to give additional 5
marks for the Telugu language to the candidates who participated in the examination conducted by
the National Accreditation Authority for translators and interpreters. After knowing this news,
Mallikeshwara Rao, the administrator, and media communication secretary of Telugu society has
expressed happiness.

Recently he said that 'This decision of the Government of Australia benefits the local Telugu people
and the students coming to pursue higher education.' Till now the Telugu Associations in Australia
were taught to Telugu children for programs like 'Man-Badi'. The decision that has been made will
not be needed after that time you must have known that Hindi, Punjabi, and Tamil were recognized
in Australia till now, but now the fourth language Telugu has been included.
