ACTIVITY 1
1. These are the importance of facility management in the hospitality and tourism industry business;
in the hospitality industry, delivery of services to a guest’s satisfaction is very important so that it
will be convenient for the guest. For example, having a convenience store inside the hotel would
be great for the guests. Also, Facilities also help to define the industry and provide identity in the
market place.
Step 2: The first 7 seconds and their defining role in shaping the guest’s overall image –
from the entrance to the whole decor and the feel of the place, everything must be perfect
for the guests because their final impression of the place matters.
Step 3: The rooms’ design, as the private space of the traveler, takes into consideration
every detail of the hotel – the spacing of the room is important for the guests especially
that they need adequate space for them to feel relaxed after travelling.
Step 4: The man and his experiences at the heart of design – the design of the room must
not only focus on the functionality but also should focus on the aesthetics for the guests’
likeness because guests can come from different nationalities and culture and they should
all have common experience.
Step 5: The hotel’s common areas complete the customer experience – the common areas
should also be the best areas of the hotel for the guests to make their experience of the
hotel complete.

REACTION PAPER
The video was about the AHEAD Asia Awards, AHEAD stands for Awards for Hospitality,
Experience and Design. Guy Heywood, the chief operating officer of Two Roads Hospitality Asia and
also the chair of AHEAD Awards Asia, talked about the opportunity to celebrate the architects and
designers in hospitality industry in Asia. I’m already amazed on how large this industry is and seeing all
these beautiful designs, all these landscapes, people from different personalities and culture, and even the
cutlery is beautiful. I am now imagining my dream hotel in the near future and how I would make it work
as a hotelier.
And these hotels are award-winning hotels which are unique and I can see the aesthetics that
are “instagrammable”.
Seeing all these hotels makes me wonder how I could make a hotel that’s better than all of
these great hotels in the near future, but as to what I have seen they strive in adapting especially the
Alila Yangshou in Guilin which is my favorite hotel in the video and it’s also my dream to have job
there someday. In Alila Yangsho they don’t only focus on building buildings, they also make old
buildings new by making the interior modern in which their guests love. It’s a mixture of both the old
and the new which is aesthetically pleasing to my eyes.
Hospitality Industry for me, isn’t just about the hotel anymore, on how the design is beautiful
of how aesthetically pleasing it is to the eyes, it is now more about the people coming from different
culture and making them feel at home in your hotel. And as a future hotelier, I think that’s where I
would start in my hotel.
The Grand Home Hotel
The inspiration of this logo is Alila Yongshou in Guilin because it made me feel at home at first glance.
