“Oh, yeah, finally it has come!” John exclaimed on the announcement of summer vacations. It has
been a very busy summer for John that started with the demise of spring and beginning with the
onset of a new academic session at the end of March and going on to the end of May. So, getting to
know about his summer break has made him refreshed already and he is just waiting for his dad to
announce a vacation trip. On the way home, sitting on the bus, John and his peers singing some
melodious hymns. Suddenly, one of John’s friends comes and asks,” Hey dude, how have you
planned your summer?” John said,” waiting for my pops to announce it.” “Well ok, but I have
already planned it, and it is a trip to Dubai.” John’s friend replied. John looked astonished and was
now wishing that his dad may announce a foreign trip as well. He wished a happy journey to his
mate and finally arrived at his home. Now, he became too anxious to know what’s coming up for the
summer break and hoping it to be a foreign trip. As soon as his father arrived, John prepared some
salad to please him and have a good decision. Finally, dad came. John presented a towel to dad and
then served the dishes as well with the salad that he prepared. After dinner, Dad praised his work
and then asked, “John, what’s so special today?” John replied, “Guess pops.” “Oh I see, it is summer
break.” replied dad. As an announcement, John couldn’t believe that. “It is a trip to Andaman and
Nicobar Islands,” Father said. Now, John became too desperate and was just raring to go.

Finally, the day arrived. It started with a drive to Heathrow Airport. Then, it was around 5 pm when
John and his family boarded the plane to India. After reaching Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj
International Airport, Mumbai, the family took another flight to Veer Savarkar Airport, Port Blair.
Then, they resided Eco Villa Palm Beach resort which was located near the Andaman sea. The next
day the family decided to visit the sea.

The day when the family planned for sightseeing the sea, there was a big fair and an exhibition that
showed a glimpse of medieval India. From artificial sculptures of Ellora caves made by craving stones
to Castles made from clay and sand, all the art form captivated the family. It was like a whole new
world to them.

Suddenly, when John was strolling near the castle exhibition, a sperm whale was splashed by sea
waves on the shore. Afterward, a crowd of people gathered near it and tried to throw it back to the
sea. Then, John’s dad shouted, “It is turning red, it is dead. Get Away! Get Away!”. Then, the crowd
realized the situation and immediately called the police. The weight of the carcass was estimated at
8 short tons. At the time, Andaman sea was under the central government, which, after consulting
with the Indian Navy, decided to remove the whale using dynamite – assuming that the resulting
pieces would be small enough for scavenger animals to consume. When the dynamite was
detonated, it resulted in large pieces of blubber landing near buildings and parking lots some
distance away from the beach. The fair was stopped straight away and it also witnessed damages to
the cars in the parking lot and 10 were injured. Then, the family went back to the resort. After
witnessing the horrific explosion of the whale the family decided to end the trip and go back safely
to their home. Thus, the family thanked the almighty and for John, it became a never forgetting
experience.
