Writing: What are pros and cons for children watching television

In recent years, television has become popular in the most parts of

the world. As a result, children have an easy access to a TV set or even
their mobile phone serves many TV channels. Undoubtedly, this may
have a significant impact on the development of the youth. In this essay,
the advantages and disadvantages of children watching television will be
analysed and the author's opinion provided at the end.
On the one hand, there are a number of reasons why people think
that children's developing would be negatively affected by watching TV.
The first reason is that sitting in front of television screen for a long time
is harmful for children' health. Many kids these days suffer from various
health problems such as: eyestrain; obesity or fatigue;… Another reason
is that many TV programs and movies contain violent contents which can
put children be at risk of violent behaviors. And almost of them may not
be managed by the adults.
On the other hand, television has an essential role to play in the
development of children. Watching education television programs gives
kids opportunity to widen their horizons. Planet Earth and Discovery
channels are prime examples. Their programs are not only take the
viewers into unknown natural habitats which are home to various plants
and animals, but also educate children about the importance of preserving
the environment of the world. Moreover, despite of entertainment, they
also teach children many useful life lessons and life skills.
In conclusion, television is still bring many advantages for children
if their parents guidance them which programs should or should not
watch and give them the limited time in watching
