7 Maintenance Cleaning/replacing the air filters of the controller

Clean or replace the air filters of the controller periodically.

7-1 Maintenance Part Before cleaning the air filter of the controller, be sure

filter, the temperature inside the marking unit rises,
weakening the laser power or causing malfunction.
The table below lists the replacement parts for the MD-X1000/1500 NOTICE

 After removing the air filter, never insert metal chips
or foreign material into the ventilation port. Doing so
may lead to a breakdown of the unit.

3. Remove the filter holder and the filter from the panel.
 Be sure to use replacement parts specified by
KEYENCE. Failure to use the parts specified by
KEYENCE can result in damage to the unit. Filter holder

the internal temperature rises, causing the
MD-X1000/1500 Series to malfunction.

Cleaning the window

When the window surface of the marking unit becomes dirty, the laser
beam transmittance decreases, resulting in faint marking or the
absence of marking.
Periodically wipe the window gently with a cloth dampened with
acetone or ethanol to remove dirt.

 Handle the air filter carefully to prevent it from being

 Never allow it to dry in direct sunlight.

4. Remove the air filter. Clean it with neutral detergent, and allow it to
air dry in the shade.

5. Reverse the above procedures (Steps 1-3) to attach the dried air
filter to the controller.

 Tighten the screw with a tightening torque of 0.4

Replacing the fan of the marking unit

Replace the fan of the marking unit when it stops operation.

 Be sure to turn off the power before replacing the

1. Turn the key-operated switch of the controller to the "OFF" position


to turn off the power.

2. Remove the two screws (M4 x 8) securing the fan connector cover
and the four screws (M4 x 35) securing the fan at the rear of the
marking unit and remove the following:
 Fan connector cover
 Fan guard

3. Disconnect the fan connector and remove the fan from the marking
unit.

7 4. Reverse the above procedures (Steps 1-3) to attach a new fan to


the marking unit.
Maintenance

NOTICE
 Tighten the screws with a tightening torque of 0.8
Nm.

CAUTION
 Do not forget to attach the fan guard. Otherwise, the
rotating fan may cause injury.
