1. PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE AND OSERVATIONS

In the previous lesson, I have noticed that the students are getting bored of looking through the book
and highlighting notes.

The students engaged well in the videos I presented in class, they provided me with a lot of feedback.

They enjoyed the idea of introducing videos into the lesson as it broke down the lesson well and got
them very interested in lesson.

I got through all the material I wanted to cover in the lesson, had no problems with classroom
management.

Observed them sketching, they are very good at sketching. In relation to 3d sketching, they are very
strong.

2. LESSON RATIONALE

Brief outline of why this content is the basis of the lesson KEY*

As the students are getting frustrated of looking through notes on the book, I must change
up the structure off the lessons and I how approach teaching them the material. In this
lesson, I will use PowerPoint with my own referenced.

As they enjoyed the videos, I will continue to use videos in the lesson to provide the
students with the material in a fun and creative way. RL

As the students showed me that they understood the notes we went through in the
previous lesson, I will introduce new material to them in this lesson – that being the strip NL
foundation: what they are, the design features and the traditional strip foundation.

I will introduce this material as it is the next step in the chapter of foundations. It is also NL
important students learn this as learning the properties of strip foundation and how it works
is highly important in the construction studies curriculum.

NL
It is also important for students to learn this as question 1 in the leaving certificate paper is
mandatory and is mainly based on foundations so its important, they understand the
components of foundations.
