9 RADIO TEACHER: What do you know about ratio?

If your answer is, Ratio is a way of comparing two or more quantities. We generally express

the two numbers as a ratio using a colon (:) or fraction form.

15 For you to fully understand, I asked your parents when they collected the modules to

prepare some materials that we will use for today’s broadcast.

16 Please bring out first the materials. Now, get your scissors and construction paper.

17 Please remember to be careful in using your scissors and keep it again in a proper

place after using it.

18. Let’s gets started. In making a design, you need to cut 3 squares for every four circle.

19. Look at what you have cut.

20. You can see that there are 3squares and four circles.If we compare the number of

squares to the number of circles we can write it in ratio.

21 The ratio 3:4 or ¾ compares the number of squares to the number of circles.

23 Activity 2: Get 6 spoons and 5 fork. If we compare the number of spoon to the number of

forks. What is the ratio of spoon to fork?

24 If your answer is 6 : 5 or 6/5 then your answer is definitely correct. How about the ratio of

fork to spoon? Yes it is 5:6 or 5/6.

25. Now, I will give you a short problem. Using your bondpaper and pencil vizualize the ratio of

the two given number in the problem. The Municipality of Paombong is known for its

page 15. Let’s do the question for number 1. As you can see there are 6 trees and 4 fruits. The

question is compare the number of trees to number of fruits. Or what is the ratio of trees to fruits?

2. If your answer is 6:4 or 6/4 then you are correct. Now I’ll give you time to answer the questions

for numbers 2-5 for 2 minutes.

3. Let’s now check your answers.
