CITY OF HARARE COUNCILLORS MEET TO DISCUSS SERVICE
DELIVERY

On the 7th of September 2020, the party leadership met with the City of Harare councilors to
discuss the current state of the city. Key amongst the issues discussed was improved service
delivery to the residents of Harare.
The councilors also considered the construction of new market stalls in designated areas for
SMEs after the demolition of ‘illegal’ stalls during the Covid-19 cleanup campaign.
Councilors further committed to improved cooperation and engagement with the central
government as this is crucial for the city to fulfill its mandate.
The threat to wetlands was also discussed and councilors committed to fight for the preservation
of wetlands throughout Harare.
The councilors further agreed to be more accountable and transparent in carrying out their
business in order to build trust amongst all the stakeholders.
19 councilors attended this meeting and the party delegation had the Secretary General,
Secretary for Local government and the Secretary for Elections who also chaired the meeting.
