Jesus' Identity Jesus' Mission The Cost of Discipleship Mark 8:27-9:1 Messiah, Son of Man
Jesus' Identity Jesus' Mission The Cost of Discipleship Mark 8:27-9:1 Messiah, Son of Man
Lesson 9
REFLECTION QUESTION
1. Following Him would involve suffering and sacrifice. Being His disciple involved a cost but
also the great reward of eternal life. Trials would be faced when walking in His footsteps. We
must deny ourselves and take up our cross and follow Him.
2. A better moral understanding, mindset, stronger faith and beliefs, and a more powerful
mentality.
3. He warned his disciples to not tell anyone about Him. He insists that the Son of Man must
suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law,
and that he must be killed and after three days rise again. He has in mind the concerns of
God, not merely human concerns. He gave orders not to tell anyone what His disciples had
seen until the Son of Man had risen from the dead. The Son of Man must suffer much and be
rejected.
DISCUSSION
Mark 10:1-31 Teacher Teach people, unite man “Go, sell everything you have and
to his wife. give to the poor, and you will have
treasure in heaven. Then come,
follow me.” (Leave everything and
follow Him.) Do not separate what
God has joined together. (Getting a
divorce in married couples)
Lesson 10
REFLECTION QUESTION
1.
New Testament:

“Let anyone who is thirsty come to e and drink” (John 7:37). “I am the light of the world. Whoever
follows me will never walk in darkness” (John 8:12)
Old Testament:
The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep
darkness a light has dawned" (Isaiah 9:1–2). "Then will the eyes of the blind be opened and the
ears of the deaf unstopped. Then will the lame leap like a deer, and the mute tongue shout for joy.
Water will gush forth in the wilderness and streams in the desert" (Isaiah 35:5–6). "For I will pour
water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour out my Spirit on your
offspring, and my blessing on your descendants" (Isaiah 44:3)
2. Jesus decided to attend the feast later when He could go secretly. Instead of ensuring His
arrest, Jesus actually got to preach to the people and persuade more people to follow Him/
believe that He is the saviour/Messiah.
3. Because it states/reminds us that when you don’t believe that Jesus is the Messiah and
saviour then you will rot in Hell for your sins, this applies to both the past, the present, and
even the future, making it very much necessary.
