King Rodgar, ruler of the Danes, is concerned about the attacks of a demon named Gréndel.

Every
night, Gréndel raids the king's luxurious banquet hall, called Hérot, kills Danish warriors and
sometimes even eats them. Rodgar was a great warrior in his time, but now he is an elderly king
who does not seem to be able to protect the people from him. Fortunately, a Gauta warrior
named Beowulf travels to Hérot's mansion from his lands across the sea to literally lend him a
hand.

After explaining that he owes Rodgar a favor because he helped his father, Beowulf offers to fight
Gréndel. King Rodgar gratefully accepts the offer. The next time Gréndel attacks Hérot's mansion,
Beowulf is already waiting for him. Having chosen to battle Gréndel hand-to-hand, Beowulf fights
the demon into subjugation and finally rips his arm from his shoulder. Mortally wounded, Gréndel
flees to his lair and dies. Beowulf, Ródgar and his followers celebrate it in style. Rodgar also gives
Beowulf many gifts and treasures as a reward for the heroic victory.

Unfortunately, Gréndel has an overprotective mother who decides to avenge her son. At the
moment when the warriors sleep the drunkenness of the party, he attacks the mansion of Herot,
but when the warriors wake up, he panics and flees to his lair, a cave deep in a lake. near.

Beowulf, his cat warriors, and some of Rodgar's Danish warriors track him to his hiding place.
Beowulf dives into the lake and finds the cave, where he faces Gréndel's mother in another face-
to-face showdown. Finally, he kills her using a sword close to him from the beast's treasure, even
though her poisonous demon blood melts her sword. When Beowulf resurfaces with his sword hilt
and Gréndel's severed head, the Danish warriors have already left him for dead, but his Gauta
followers are still waiting patiently. When everyone sees that Beowulf survives this second
challenge, there are more parties and gift deliveries.

At last, the Geats say goodbye to the Danes. Beowulf says goodbye to King Rodgar and sets sail for
Gautaland, where he is a lord in the court of King Híglak. Eventually, Híglak and all of his relatives
are murdered in various family brawls, and Beowulf becomes king of the geese. Beowulf reigns for
fifty years and protects the Geats from all the surrounding tribes, especially the Swedes. He is a
heroic and honorable warrior king who rewards his loyal vassals (warrior lords) and takes care of
his people.

However, one day, Beowulf meets his most formidable adversary: a dragon, awakened by a looter
who tries to steal a chalice, begins to attack the geese, burn towns and slaughter people. Beowulf
leads a group of eleven faithful warriors and the thief, who knows where the dragon's lair is, to the
burial mound for one last stand against the monster. When they see the dragon, all the warriors
except one flee in terror. Only one man, Wíglaf, remains at Beowulf's side. With Wíglaf's help and
encouragement, Beowulf succeeds in defeating the dragon, but is mortally wounded in the
process.

After Beowulf's death, the Geats build a huge funeral pyre for him, filled with treasures. Once the
pyre is burned, they spend ten days building a huge burial mound (a huge mound of earth in which
numerous treasures are buried) as a monument to their late king.
