CONSTRUCTION

Connectors are three-pole appliances with one drive. Each pole is equipped with two supporting insulators –
fixed or movable. Connectors can be equipped with porcelain, composite insulators with cycloaliphatic resin or
silicone in an HTV rubber cover. Handles with main contacts are installed to the insulators. The main contacts are
made from tinning coated, profiled copper flat bars. The construction of the contacts allows their self-guidance,
and provides a large contact surface and clamping force.
Appliances, as standard, are equipped with current terminals, which allow the installation of isolated or naked
aluminum electricity cables with a cross-section of 16-95 mm2 (a special design allows connecting cables with
a cross-section of 120 mm2). This information must be provided while placing an order or request. Additionally,
appliances with earthing switches are equipped with a flexible contact, which takes over the effects of bending on
a movable appliance pole.
Connectors in the modular structure can be expanded with additional elements such as: lightning arresters,
additional support insulators. They can be installed in the horizontal or vertical position.

CONNECTORS WITH LIMITED CAPABILITY RATED CONTINUOUS CURRENT 800 A

The Connector structure refers to well-known power industry solutions, which have been in use for many years
now. A modified contact system allows the transmission and switching capability to be increased. The application
of silicone drive insulators eliminates the risk of damage to this element. The main shaft interlock prevents faulty
switching operations and considerably improves the handling safety of the appliance. Connectors can be equipped
with porcelain, composite insulators with cycloaliphatic resin or silicone in an HTV rubber cover. Contact elements
applied from our production units guarantees the proper electrical and mechanical operation of the appliance.
Appliances are designed to power lines with considerable cable cross-sections up to 240 mm2, overhead
switchgear busbar bridges and stations 110 kV/15 – 24 – 36 kV and for cable trays. Standard hand drives
manufactured by ZPUE S.A. are used to control the connectors.

7 / Overhead rail switch disconnector RNK-1

CONSTRUCTION

Switch disconnector RNK-1 is designed for continuous and short-circuit current conduction, as well as to
perform switching operations in a current range which does not exceed the rated continuous current of the switch
disconnector.
A switch disconnector is a single-pole appliance, which is composed of a fixed base, movable base, hydro-
cycloaliphatic resin insulators, current busbars, electric arc extinguishing guide bars.
The main contacts of the switch disconnector are made from profiled electrolytic copper flat bars coated with silver
plating. Construction elements are made from St3SY steel and protected against corrosion by hot dip galvanizing.
All movable elements are made from stainless steel.
A switch disconnector can be equipped with a busbar connection.
In open/closed position, the switch disconnector makes a visible and safe isolation gap.

Detailed information on the switch disconnector is presented on www.zpue.com and in the technical
documentation.

OPERATING PRINCIPLE

NSP-7/SO-2 is an electric drive 24V DC equipped with a control panel SO-2.

The drive has a motor for 24 V DC voltage, single-step spur gear and electric control system SO-2.
Switch disconnector maneuvering is performed when the main shaft drive is rotated to a 180° angle. The drive's
construction allows it to be handled from the ground level. The drive has a mechanical operation interlock, which
protects against closing the drive during network operations.

A mechanical interlock allows permanent locking of the switch disconnector in the “OPEN” or “CLOSE” position.
In order to lock the drive, the manual drive slot interlock (7) should be opened. Next insert the hand drive
mechanical interlock (6) in such a way as to fit the interlock lugs with the cut out of the manual drive slot (8), then
close the casing door (10).

www.zpue.com 41
OPERATING PRINCIPLE

Opening of the manual driver slot interlocks causes simultaneous switching off of the drive power supply
thanks to the limit switch activation.
Pulling out the mechanical interlock (6) from the manual drive slot (8) and closing the manual drive slot
interlock (7) causes the release of the lock.
The switch disconnector can be maneuvered remotely or electrically from the control panel SO-2.
On the control cubicle panel are buttons:

“CLOSE” - send an impulse to close switch disconnector;

“OPEN” – send an impulse to open switch disconnector;
The control operation mode (15) is used to choose the way in which to control the switch disconnector:
1. REMOTE –remote control of the connector (radio control)
0. SWITCHED OFF – controlling deactivated
2. connector manoeuvring using buttons on the SO-2 control panel

Detailed information related to the drive is included in the DTR documentation.

MV overhead connectors
10 / Concrete poles and construction of the overhead power lines

SCOPE AND APPLICATION

Prefabricated functional spun concrete or wooden poles are delivered with previously installed constructions,
elements of the overhead connectors' drives, elements for lightning arresters installation, constructions for cable
terminations, required groundings, warning plates, etc.
Connectors should be self assembled on the poles in the construction site in order to avoid damage to the
elements during transfer and transport. Steel constructions are protected against corrosion by hot dip galvanizing
according to the PN-EN ISO 1461 norm. All connecting elements used in the construction assembly, such as bolts
and nuts, are protected against corrosion by hot dip galvanizing. The application of galvanizing for anti-corrosion
protection has been eliminated because of its insufficient durability. Prefabricated concrete poles are made
according to individual projects developed by ZPUE S.A and overhead power line albums adopted by the Polish
Society of Transmission and Distribution of Electricity.

Implementation of the ZKP system in accordance with the EN 1090 norm

In accordance with Regulation (UE) 305/2011 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 9 March 2011
(Construction Products Regulation – CPR), ZPUE is pleased to inform our customers that the Factory Production
Control System was introduced, fulfilling the requirements of the PN-EN 1090 norm within the range of production
of low, medium and high voltage power constructions, and transformer stations.
ZPUE was also examined and found to be a company which performs welding works in “steel supporting
constructions”.
To confirm the implementation, ZPUE has gained certificates from the notified and accredited body TUV
NORD.

SPUN CONCRETE POLES WITH EARTHING

The pre-stressed high strength type E and EMU concrete poles offered by ZPUE are the highest quality
products, compliant with the standard PN-EN 12843:2008. Use of modern technology of concrete density by the
centrifugation method allows us to achieve a high level of density and smooth surface, which guarantees stability
and bearing capacity of the spun concrete poles. Concrete compressive strength class minimum C40/50(C50/60)
according to PN-EN206-1:2003.

ADVANTAGES OF NETWOEK SOLUTIONS ON SPUN CONCRETE POLES

• Design working life 50 years without the need for maintenance,

• Low water absorption <3,5%, good frost resistance, exposure class XC4, XF2 according to PN-EN 206-1 norm:
2003, confirmed by accredited research body,
• Esthetic design, scratch resistance of the smooth surface,
• Limiting of the amount of land made unavailable for agricultural use
• Possibility to increase of the span length, fewer number of poles along 1km of lines,
• Easy foundation in the ground,
• Application of one concrete pole instead of expanded spans,
• Grounding terminal allows connection, for example: with a crossbar with inside grounding (which is not a load
transferring element),
• No need to place grounding steel tape on the surface of the pole

APPLICATION

• Supports for overhead and overhead-cable MV and LV power lines, telecommunication lines, train and tram
lines,
Various support constructions for general application.
