Where I’m From

I am from hay covered clothes, from horses and dirt.

I am from the house up on stilts (clean, organized, and welcoming).

I am from the mighty oak tree, and the firetruck tire swing that never stops moving.

I am from Christmas breakfast and familial gatherings every other Sunday, from Mom, Nicholas,
Jonah, Grandma and Alec
.
I am from the baking of cookies at midnight and sneaking into the refrigerator to eat the cookie
dough. From opening the umbrella inside is bad luck and snitches get stitches.

I am from the mother daughter outings, getting ice-cream and impromptu trips.

I'm from Florida, fruit tart and Salisbury steak. From the unforgiving grandmother who takes
anyone out of the will that does not do her bidding, and the numerous pets brought home without
telling the parents.

I am from the wall of children’s photos, dirty boots, and broken windows. I am from 5840 days,
140160 hours, and 8409600 minutes of learning all the things that I will teach the next
generation of my family.
