Worked on KWR, Finding your passion, and Planning document

Goals: Get approval on learning how to make a monitor + monitor arm stand, finish up the
KWR/FYP/Plan Doc,

11/7/2019

Finished FYP and KWR. Decided on what I am going to do: Build a monitor and create an
application for it that people would desire.

Goals/Tasks: Order the monitor parts, Decide what I want to apply it to: Easy on the go switch
connector, easy raspberry pi connector, etc.

Need to decide between the applications and which stand to make. Work on the Planning

Invention Convention Documentation Due. Started Progress Check #1. Got the monitor that will
be used.

Progress Check #1 Today. Measured the dimensions of the monitor screen.

CADDed the monitor and the tilt system.

Monitor Controller Board Delieved. Got the measurements for the monitor controller board.
Tested the controller board on DVI port. CADDed the dimensions of the monitor controller
board.

CADDed the base plate and the shaft for the Monitor Frame. Finished Assembly of Monitor
Stand Frame.

Progress Check #2 today.

Made the monitor cover and added it onto the monitor screen CAD. Added where the monitor
controller board would go. CADDed and added the component that allows the monitor to
connect to the standard monitor arms sold online.

Tested the monitor controller board again today. Tried changing the wiring and screen used.
Found out that it was a wiring problem.

Finished the base plate, height adjustment mechanism, and tilt adjustment mechanism.
Assembled everything together.

Finished new assembly with changes made to the parts.

Progress Check #3. Decided to change from stand to simple tension tilt system attached to
monitor.

ReCADDed the assembly of the monitor screen into the right materials.
12/4/2019

Made the proper holes for where the tilt system and monitor controller wire will go. Secured all
the vex parts that will be needed. Nuts, Screws, Metal Monitor Holder, and Metal Side Holder.

Finished my prototype #1
Pushed screws through the pre-made holes and slipped a holder into them. Used nuts to secure
the holder. Screwed and Nutted on the monitor holders to finish the tension tilt system.

Finalized my design changes. Reworked how the tilt system will be and what material.

Remeasured all my dimensions and finalized a design.

Finished the CADDing of the tilt system.

Made the tilt system into PNG files for laser-cutting.

Measured the dimensions of the plastic cover bottom precisely using a dial caliper.

Measured the dimensions of the plastic cover bottom precisely. CADDed the plastic cover
bottom.

Added the dimensions of the bottom cover to the wooden support. Added it to a new assembly.

Prepared all the CAD into PNG files for laser-cutting. Laser-cut the tilt system and the monitor
support board.

12/20/2019

Fixed the holes of the laser cut wood board. Sanded down one of the holes that were not big
enough and sanded bigger one of the side rectangles that held the side covers.

12/21/2019-1/5/2020

~Winter Break~

Finished putting together the monitor. Used super glue to make the tilt system and attach it to
the wooden board. Screwed the Monitor controller board onto the wooden board. Glued / Stuck
the monitor onto the wooden board. Secured the wiring.

1/6/2020

Started making the portable switch holder. Made the base plate and the sides.

1/7/2020

Made the holder for the Nintendo docking system.

1/8/2020

Made holders for accessories and controllers.

1/9/2020

Finished the holder of the monitor. Assembled everything together.

1/10/2020-1/12/2020

Progress Check #5. Brought in the final product for testing.

Made slides for the poster board and gathered what data/pics were needed for the slides.
1/14/2020

Printed out the slides and secured construction paper. Cut out the slides and construction paper
to the right sizes to put on the poster board.

1/15/2020

Finalized Log Book and Poster to turn in.
