Why is it important to be responsible users of digital resources?

Lesson Plan:

Introduce Vocabulary: research, plagiarism, digital citizenship, ethical use, digital tools,
copyright, digital footprint

Students will watch videos on Plagiarism, Copyright and Digital Footprint. Students will
complete the assigned task individually after watching each video.(Technology Level: Engage)

2. Plagiarism: Plagiarism by BrainPOP 4:46
Complete Worksheet – Identify It (On BrainPOP)
3. Copyright: Copyright by BrainPOP 5:25
Complete Graphic Organizer – KWL Table (On BrainPOP)

Students will then break into in pairs or small groups and discuss each task from the videos
assigned. Students will then explore the resources in the Curated Resources-Ethical Use of
Information list to see if they can add more information to their graphic organizer on Copyright
and discuss other facts about Digital Footprint and Plagiarism.(Technology Level: Enhancement)
(Ethical Citizenship) The class will come back together, and each group will pick from the
discussed topics to share a fact and discuss its meaning.

Lesson Plan:
Introduce Vocabulary: Area, Net, Prism, Rectangular Prism, Solid, Volume
Task #1: Students are going to create a cube by constructing a net made of graph paper.
Students will work with a partner to create that net using 1 in. graph paper. Once they have the
cube drawn out on the graph paper, they will cut out the net and fold to make a cube. This will
be their unit cube. Give students a unit wooden cube to fit inside their cube made from the net.
What is the Volume of this net? Students will see that the cube that fits inside the net is 1
cubic inch, so the volume of the net is 1 cubic inch.
Task #2: Next students will continue to work with their partner and create a rectangular prism
that is 2 in. x 2 in. x 2 in. Students will cut the net out, fold and tape to create their rectangular
prism. Give students wooden cubes to fill the net created from the graph paper. What is the
Volume of this net? Students will count the cubes inside the net and see that the volume is 8
cubic inches. Students should now be able to see that the formula to find the Volume is V=l x w
x h.
Task #3: Students will work individually on a lesson they will select from the curated resources
on Volume. Select only 1 lesson from the Curated Resources - Pinterest, Volume. (Technology

What happens to Volume when edges are fractional lengths?

Lesson Plan:

Student will work in groups of 3-4 students to do the following task. Students will have 10
minutes to complete the task and then 10 minutes to discuss answers with their group members.
After discussion with group members, students will look through curated resources on Volume to
see if any of the resources can help in their explanation and demonstration video for the task.
