NARRATIVE AND PICTORIAL REPORT ON THE CELEBRATION OF NATIONAL


DISASTER CONSCIOUSNESS MONTH JULY 2017

I. INTRODUCTION

The month of July has been declared as the National Disaster Consciousness Month and to celebrate this
annual event the School Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council conducted different activities relative to
Disaster Risk Reduction Management and this month of 2017’s theme “ 4K : Kamalayan sa Kahandaan,
Katumbas ay Kaligtasan” This activity aims to increase the awareness and preparedness of students and
teachers in a disaster.

II. OBJECTIVES

At the end of this activity, the students, teachers, principal and staff should be able to:

➢ Increase the awareness of students and teachers in DRRM by means of activities and games;
➢ Emphasize the importance of disaster risk reduction and management;
➢ Motivate the schools to integrate DRRM programs and projects in their respective area; and
➢ Promote safe and hazard free school environment.

III. ACCOMPLISHMENTS

In compliance with the Deped Rizal Memorandum 17-178 dated July 3, 2017, Maly Elementary School’s
Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council conducted an Inter-school Competition and different activities
relative to Disaster Risk Reduction Management and this month of 2017’s theme “ 4K : Kamalayan sa
Kahandaan, Katumbas ay Kaligtasan”

As of July 3, 2017 an Inter-school DRRM Olympics was held at different classrooms of Maly Elementary
School headed by our principal as a deputy chief of the SDRRMC and her assigned SDMC teacher facilitators like
Ms. Denise Lumbera for the Quiz Bee, Ms. Jenny Lyn S. Guillen for Slogan and Poster Making, Ms. Daisy Calpito
for Make Your Own Story Book Writing, and Ms. Rioly Urnom for Jingle Making. The said activities was
conducted for the preparation for the Municipal DRRM OLYMPICS.

Moreover, last 14th day of July 2017, Friday, a Symposium was held at the School covered court with our
guest speaker Sir Stephen Flores our MDRRMO Chief and SFO1 Ramil Flores this lecture aims to give information
and knowledge to our teachers and pupils regarding safetiness and awareness before, during and after disaster.
After the lecture a mock earthquake and fire drill was conducted.

Additionally , the school also conducted the Promoting Family Earthquake Preparedness Homework in
compliance with the DEPED ORDER No. 27 last June 23, 2017, while the school is having the GPTA Meeting the
teachers introduced and explained the Family Earthquake Preparedness Homework and let the parents
answered the questionnaire after the questionnaires has been answered, summarized and tabulated, the results
have been discussed thru meeting which was conducted last June 27,2017 with the School Disaster
Management Council (SDMC)

Furthermore, Later this July 26 , 2017, The members of the Supreme Pupils Governance together with Red
Cross , GSP and BSP joined together to do the School Watching and Hazard Mapping activity the following
guidelines and procedures of the school watching activity has given to the pupils thru orientation after the
meeting they roamed around the school facilities and open areas then filled out the given SWT checklist and
do the pictorial for the hazard areas and documentary purpose after the inspection, the pupils started their
mapping and signages .

IV. RECOMMENDATION

This activity recommends to

➢ Actively participate in DRRM Activities such as DRRM OLYMPICS


➢ Integrate Disaster Preparedness and Awareness in Lesson Planning
➢ Provide equipment for first aid and rescue(e.g. spine board)
➢ Promote a hazard free environment.
