More Information About Him -

Tiffany started out as a painter, but became interested in glassmaking from about 1875
and worked at several glasshouses in Brooklyn between then and 1878.

In 1881 Tiffany did the interior design of the Mark Twain House in Hartford, Connecticut,
which still remains, but the new firm's most notable work came in 1882 when President
Chester Alan Arthur refused to move into the White House until it had been redecorated.

Tiffany died on January 17, 1933, and is buried in Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn,
New York.
Tiffany is the great-grandfather of investor George Gilder.
ART -

What Is Art ?
Art is the creation of visual, auditory or performing artifacts, which express
the creator's imagination, conceptual ideas, or technical skill.
How Did Art Evolve ?
The oldest purpose of art is as a vehicle for religious ritual. From the prehistoric
cave paintings of France, to the Sistine Chapel, art has served religion. For
centuries the Church was the primary patron of artists.
Some Art Forms -

Cubism -

Cubism is an early-20th-century avant-garde art movement that revolutionized

European painting and sculpture, and inspired related movements in music, literature
and architecture.

Realism -

Realism, sometimes called naturalism, in the arts is generally the attempt to represent
subject matter truthfully, without artificiality and avoiding speculative fiction and
supernatural elements.
Does Art Reflect The Society

Art influences society by changing opinions, instilling

values and translating experiences across space and
time. Research has shown art affects the fundamental
sense of self. Painting, sculpture, music, literature and
the other arts are often considered to be the repository
of a society's collective memory.
