Full day school is a school all day or teaching and learning process that is
applied from morning to evening, starting at 07.00a.m-05.00p.m, with the
duration of rest every two hours. The school can manage the lesson schedule
freely, adjusted to the weight of the subjects and coupled with the deepening of
the material. The thing that is prioritized in full day school is setting schedule
subjects and deepening.
Even though the government has not received the green light, schools in
several regions have begun to apply full day school regulations, or schools a full
day from morning to evening. In Jakarta, for example, full day school has been
implemented since last year in several primary and secondary schools.
There are some advantage of full day school program for instance, students
have plenty of time to explore their talents and abilities through practical lessons.
Plus, students can do their homework at school and there is time to consult with
teachers about the material that is not or has not been understood. In addition, the
emotional connection between teachers and students will be closer and personal,
because they will spend more time together.
However, there are many disadvantages of full day school program too,
like children can feel tired, it will difficult to concentrate or even fall asleep
during teaching and learning hours. As a result they cannot understand the subject
matter.
So, full day school Program often cause boredom in students. A full day
school learning system is requires good physical, psychological, and intellectual
readiness. The tight schedule of learning activities and the application of
consistent sanctions within certain limits will cause students to become bored. But
for those who are ready, this is not a problem, but it will actually bring its own
preoccupation, therefore carefulness and improvisation of management in this
matter is very much needed.
