TECHNICAL TRAINING MANUAL
The hydraulic system consist in a power pack, a boom control valve, a stabilizer conytrol valve and the drilling
schematic.
The power pack includes a double pump, one 24.2cc and a 32.3cc of displacement giving 35 and 47 l/mn of flow.
The 24.2cc pump powers :
• the stabilizers
• the boom control valve
• the drill rotation valve

The above drawing shows the simplified schematic of the boom control valve and the oil inlet block.
Top view : the inlet block includes a compensator spool 3, the spring 2 and the relief valve 4.
When starting the power pack, oil enters in P, runs to all directionnal spools and to the right side of the compensator.
It pushes the light spring 2.
• In neutral the pump runs at very low pressure (spring tension of the spring 2)
• When the operator moves one control, the load sensing signal is directed into the spring chamber. The inlet
pressure P must now overcome the load sensing force + the spring force. The circuit get pressurized.
The relief valve 4 controls the maximum pressure allowed for the circuit.

The drawing shows the circuits when the feed swing rollover is using. From the pump oil flows through the stabilizer
valve to the boom control up to the swing directionnal spool. The Load Sensing signal bring the pressure information
down to the compensator through all shuttles.

From the large pump, oil flows through the compressor motor to the percussion control up to the drifter. Percussion
pressure is set by the 130 bar relief valve. There is no load sensing on feed/percussion circuit.
A pilot pressure out of the shuttle 27 operates both valves 40 and 29. Valve 40 controls the water flushing. Valve
29 allows compressed air to run to the drifter through the oiler 26. The timer of the oiler must be set to acheive 30
drops of oil per minute. The pressure reducer 33 must be set to reduce the air pressure to 2.5 bar mesured at the
drifter inlet air port.

The percussion flow is also used to run the feed motor. The feed pressure can be reduced from 130 bar to correct
level by the pressure reducer 49. The feed flow runs through the anti-jamming valve 50. The feed direction reverses
when the rotation pressure increases to abnormal. A common way is to set the anti-jamming valve 30bar highrer
than average rotation pressure in solid good ground.
Counter balance valve 24 prevent the drifter to run away when the drill feed is not in horizontal position.
