PROCEDURE IN DETERMINING THE WATTAGE AND AMPERE PER CIRCUIT

 DETERMINE THE LOAD OF LIGHTING.

*The Philippine Electrical Code (PEC) so provides that 100 watts is allowable as maximum load for each
household lighting outlet (LO).

Circuit 1: LO = 23 x 100 = 2,300 WATTS

Circuit 3: LO = 23 x 100 = 2,300 WATTS

Circuit 5: LO = 18 x 100 = 1,800 WATTS

Circuit 7: LO = 18 x 100 = 1,800 WATTS

 DETERMINE THE LOAD OF CONVENIENCE OUTLETS.

*The Philippine Electrical Code (PEC) states “Fore each single receptacle shall be considered at no less
than 180 watt rating.”

Circuit 2: CO – 7 x 2= 14 x 180 = 2,520 WATTS

Circuit 4: CO – 7 x 2= 14 x 180 = 2,520 WATTS

Circuit 6: CO – 9 x 2= 18 x 180 = 3,240 WATTS

Circuit 8: CO – 9 x 2= 18 x 180 = 3,240 WATTS

 DETERMINE AMPERE PER CIRCUIT.

*To determine protection in ampere use the standard ampere rating for fuses and circuit breaker.

(Use the formula: WATT/VOLT = AMPERE)

CIRCUIT 1: 2,300/230 = 10 AMPERE CIRCUIT 2: 2,520 /230= 10.96 AMPERE

CIRCUIT 3: 2,300/230 = 10 AMPERE CIRCUIT 4: 2,520 /230= 10.96 AMPERE

CIRCUIT 5: 1,800/230 = 7.83 AMPERE CIRCUIT 6: 3,240 /230= 14.09 AMPERE

CIRCUIT 7: 1,800/230 = 7.83 AMPERE CIRCUIT 8: 3,240/230= 14.09 AMPERE
