Dear Sirs,

Slow Turning System


In a few cases we have received reports about working loose
of the stroke adjusting screw A, fig. 1 drwg. No. 55 55 76-8,
for slow turning system. This may cause difficulties with
start of engine if the distance S fig. 1 is reduced so much
that a slow turning of the engine cannot be carried through.

In order to improve the securing of this screw we recommend


to introduce a castellated nut B with split C as shown on
fig. 2 with appurtenant table instead of the original nut.
The present lock plate D is maintained.
Fig. 3 with instruction shows how adjustment of screw A can
be carried out.

Piston
Furthermore there has been wear of the upper O-ring E fig. 1
at the piston. This is due to the fact that when the valve is in
open position, the O-ring can reach the chamfer F in the sleeve,
whereafter, by closing of the valve, the O-ring passes the
transition of the chamfer and thereby it is worn.
This can be remedied by turning off 5 mm of the bottom part of

the piston, as shown on fig. 4. By this the stroke of the


piston is reduced so that the O-ring does not reach the chamfer
F when the valve is in open position.

A leaky O-ring will not cause interruption of service but


during start of engine it may cause a little air leakage.
We therefore suggest that the latter modification is intro-
duced with normal overhaul of the automatic stop piston valve.
