LESSON 4: SPEAKING A. OBJECTIVES Class Description: 45 10-grade students (Ss) including …. boys and … girls. Time: 45 minutes 1. Aims: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to: - talk about the household chores they do - express their opinion about why they like or dislike a chore 2. Knowledge: - General knowledge : Family life. - Language: + Words concerning household chores. + The present simple tense & the present continuous 3. Skills: - filling in a table about chores - practicing a model dialogue - role-playing and reporting 4. Assumed Knowledge: Ss are at pre-intermediate level. The students are familiar with the family theme in the previous lessons. They have also learned about Present Simple as well as expressions of liking and disliking at Middle School level. 5. Anticipated Problems: - Students may not be able to brainstorm further words relating to household chores and the reasons for their likes/dislikes. - Students may also encounter errors regarding Present Simple and Present Continuous while having a conversation. 6. Proposed Solution: Teacher should carefully revise the vocabulary relating to the topics as well as give Students thorough instructions. Teacher should also carefully revise how to express likes and dislikes using the Simple present tense.

Warm – up: - T divides class into 2 groups and names their groups. - Each group is given a flag and sends a representative to the board; both of them receive 1 random phrase in relation to the topic. Then, they act to describe the phrase to their group. - The group that wave the flag first will have chance to answer the question. - Each right answer counts for 10 points 3.
