Meselson and Stahl tested Watson and Crick's proposed mechanism. They incubated a culture of
Escherichia coli in a growth medium in which nitrogen was only available as 15N. After several
hours the bacteria were transferred to a growth medium in which the only nitrogen available was (d) (KIV Central Dogma) Explain how the information to synthesise polypeptides is coded for by
