RESEARCH 2 - DR. CARL E. ANDERSON
IDENTIFYING THE RESOURCES

How to know?
When the book cover says EDITED BY, it

means that the book has many chapters or

sections written by different authors

The book was organized by other people (one

or maybe more)

If needed this kind of resources, it is better

just to cite the chapter

But if the book has also chapters and it is only

written by a single author, keep citing just the

book
BOOK CHAPTERS/SECTIONS

This type of resources differ from other bibliographical sources:

It is more detailed and it has more information

There are many specific features to take into account

It targets the development of a specialized field of knowledge

To provide support and credibility to what we write

For establishing a context

To acknowledge other writers

To participate in an academic field

For sharing findings and comparing them in current

research

To give extra resources to the readers about a topic

or field of knowledge

To identify the original resource that is used in the

2013) where is it shown a systematical, tried and tested sequence with four

topic selection and ending with a review of key content and language elements

called “the CLIL workout” (p. 308).

This framework is further developed by what Meyer (2013) proposes in his CLIL-
Pyramid where is it shown a systematical, tried and tested sequence with four

different levels to design quality academic materials units for CLIL starting with

topic selection and ending with a review of key content and language elements

that he has come to call “the CLIL workout” (p. 308).
