1N-A

Tarzan is not just an ape with a muscular body. He can swing in trees, be wild, and get
a beautiful woman. But, what I noticed the most is his ability to communicate effectively.
His use of gestures and body movements to communicate to other animals is amazing.
The way he walks with his hands and feet both touching the ground which is similar to
the ape’s way of walking clearly suggests that he even learned the culture and actions
of his family.

I observed that Tarzan uses three sounds which he vocalized all throughout the movie.
The first sound is grunting, which is vocalized using a low toned voice. In the movie, he
used it to communicate with his friend. Basically, it is Tarzan’s way of interacting with
gorillas and other animals. The second sound is growling, which is similar to a roar. He
used it when he got in a fight with Sabor, a cheetah.  From what I observed in the
movie, it is an alert or an alarm call to the gorillas. The third sound is yelling. It is
Tarzan’s own signal, since other animals can’t really imitate it. He uses it to make his
presence felt and to tell other animals that he has come to a specific area. Tarzan’s
skills when it comes to articulation evolved all throughout his developmental years, from
the day he was born up until he became a fully grown man. Then, he met Jane who
greatly influenced his ability to speak. Tarzan also developed a special feeling towards
her. When Tarzan met Jane for the first time, he can’t speak any language, but he was
able to imitate Jane’s words and actions. He also used signals to communicate to Jane.
In the movie, Tarzan only took a little time to learn the language of humans.  He really
had a huge development and I think this is why he is called the “King of The Jungle”. He
has the characteristics of a good leader; one of which is his ability to communicate
effectively.  Maybe, if Tarzan was exposed more to the language of humans, he could
be a great leader in our society. The way how he guides the animals in the jungle shows
how he could be a great man who can lead a nation, since he was able to showcase his
skill of being a good communicator to others

Now, if I were to relate this movie in our society, I greatly believe that being a good
communicator will help our country change for the better. We live in a communication
age. With powerful tools like communication and techniques, we can overcome the
barriers of illiteracy and acquire new knowledge and skills. Moreover, I also like to give
emphasis on not giving up on the things we are passionate about such as hobbies,
careers, etc. Because just like Jane’s love keeps Tarzan and her together, our passion
for anything keeps us doing what we love and makes us better.
