TOPIC 6: THE GOOD LIFE

(ACTIVITY)

Learning objectives

1. As I have read, the meaning of good life in various philosophies is like living a life that set us
free. It is about us giving time and pleasure for ourselves, only living for a good desire not a bad
cause, and living the life you know that makes you happy and satisfied. Based on Aristotle there
are many meaning of good life such as being materialism, hedonism, stoicism, theism and
humanism which is true. If one of us have those characteristics you are considered as an
individual living a good life.
2. In my own opinion, living a good life is about being faithful and devoted to God our creator,
because without him , we don’t existed in this world, he is the one who gave us satisfactions in
everything we do and we want. He gave us a life that we deserve, so if you don’t have a good
life, its what you deserve maybe you’re a fool. And the philosophy that can be consider is the
theism, it is about believing God.
3. People of todays’ generation are being socialized or acting rich so that people can see them
wealthy and having good life even though in reality it’s just all fake. They deemed having a good
life by means of buying things that they want which is somehow one of the philosophies of good
life, but the sad part is that, even though they have nothing they pursue to buy especially the
unfortunate people. Having a good life today is rare and it is hard to get because of what’s
happening in our world.
4. Three things I know to attain having a good life is, by being perseverance in everything we do,
no time for laziness and always put god first at all cost.

THINK ABOUT THESE QUESTIONS

1. What is a good life?

- In my own perspective of good life, it is about one of which you realize that you value your
inner peace and happiness more than others, it is about taking or learning criticism is
optimistic way and that there is no point of impressing and pleasing others and the society
for them to accept you. Do things that you know you are capable with it.

2. What is the relationship between good life and science?

- Good life is the result of science. Modern scientific construction and production methods
influence all parts of our lives. Social studies empower people with different setups to live
almost as happy and included as the normal ones. They also allows us to decide freely what
defines us and how we want to enjoy our life. We might able to overcome the hunt for
materialism and enjoy emotions and connections.

3. Does technology always lead us to the good life? Support your answer.

- I personally believe that technology is just a tool and people use that tool to build a good
life. It is Somehow yes, but somehow no. Yes, because it makes our life easier, it helps us to
do daily activities without feeling exhausted, advancement of technology may able us to get
everything we want and need in generations such as high-tech machine, internet makes
searching, learning and communicating and etc. however there are some people that define
good life in different ways such as living in mountains in harmony with nature and no,
because some people think that people are becoming extremely lazy and that laziness is
causing many health problems in society. Thus, having a good life is entirely depends on
your definition of it and accepting technologies as a way to make your life good is also
actually another way to attain good life.
