Chapter 2: Discussion Topic #3 (Travel Agency SWOT)

Suppose you own a travel agency in a large city. You have many corporate clients, but growth has slowed
somewhat. Some long-term employees are getting discouraged, but you feel that there might be a way to
make technology work in your favor. Use your imagination and do a SWOT analysis: Suggest at least one
strength, one weakness, one opportunity, and one threat that your business faces.

Strengths
We have a large number of corporate clients, which means a large foundation for the
company. Long term employees that are well skilled and prepared to satisfy every request.
This gives an advantage to our company over the new competitors. Excellent customer
service, which allows for a long term connection with clients. We are in an established market
for a long time with a lot of positive records.

Weaknesses
Lack of adequate media coverage and online promotion. Competitive pricing is difficult due to
rising insurance costs and a saturated market. Unattractive marketing strategies for clients
outside of the USA. Absence and lack of understanding of social media. A mobile app is not
available yet.

Opportunities
A loyalty package for clients that utilize our services with the possibility to buy online
combined tour packages. Possibly advertising revenue in the future. New bonus program for
the long term employees. Gain new clients through a brand new website and a new marketing
strategy. Develop an App for our clients to immediately check our offers and receive
notifications.

Threats
Insurance costs are continually increasing, this increases our price also. Other agencies offer a
large itinerary worldwide with exclusive hotels and locations with a better price. Visa
restrictions on touristic mobility. The fear of contracting a deadly virus or disease in another
country.
